Boeing 747-436 G-BYGG operating BA26 Hong Kong – London Heathrow dumped fuel and returned to Hong Kong around two hours after take off tonight due to an issue with the landing gear. The flight was subsequently cancelled.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIG operated BA125 London Heathrow – Bahrain – Doha today however the return BA124 was cancelled indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

New British Airways Amman Schedule Announced.

London Heathrow – Amman services will switch to British Airways flights numbers from 28th October 2012 and will be operated from Terminal 1 by the new midhaul 23J/118Y configuration Airbus A321s. The new daily schedule is as follows:

BA147 London Heathrow 1830 – Amman 0140+1

BA146 Amman 0315 – London Heathrow 0700.

Cairo Switches to A321.

The BA155/BA154 London Heathrow – Cairo rotation will switch from Boeing 777-200ER to midhaul Airbus A321 operation from 4th January 2013. The flight will also move from Terminal 5 to Terminal 1 from that date. The bmi London Heathrow – Cairo service will be suspended from 5th September 2012. Not withstanding the loss of the bmi flight British Airways will be offering 791 less seats per week on the London Heathrow –Cairo route after the changes.

Extra British Airways Weekend Gibraltar Flights.

From 28th October 2012 British Airways will operate double daily flight on Saturdays and Sundays on the London Heathrow – Gibraltar route. The new flights will operate to the following schedule:

British Airways services between London Heathrow and Tel Aviv will move to London Heathrow Terminal 1 from 28th October 2012. Flights will increase to 3 x daily (2 x daily on Fridays) but will switch from Boeing 777-200ER and Boeing 767-300ER operation to the new midhaul Airbus A321. Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMA operated the BA556/BA557 London Heathrow – Rome Fiumicino rotation today to provide additional capacity following the earlier cancellations.

The BA552/BA553 London Heathrow – Rome Fiumicino rotation was cancelled today due to a ground handlers strike at Rome. BA551 Rome Fiumicino – London Heathrow was also cancelled but this appears to be due to a technical issue encountered by Boeing 767-336ER G-BZHB.

G-BZHB Rome Technical Issue.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BZHB overnighted at Rome Fiuminco having operated BA558 from London Heathrow yesterday however its return to London as BA551 this morning was cancelled. This flight was not one that BA notified would be cancelled due to the ground handlers strike at Rome and it appears that the aircraft has encountered a technical issue.

Prestwick Airbus Maintenance Swap.

British Airways [rs-cut] today confirmed a top up order for two further Boeing 777-300ERs to be delivered in late 2014. This means BA now have four Boeing 777-300ERs on order which will take the flee to ten aircraft.
