British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMD operating BA273 London Heathrow – San Diego was around 90 minutes into its Atlantic crossing when it turned back to Shannon. After around 75 minutes on the ground the aircraft was able to continue the flight indicating that the diversion was medical.

British Airways parent IAG officially announced an order for 18 Airbus A350-1000s for British Airways today, with options on a further 18 aircraft which may go to fellow IAG airline Iberia. The aircraft will be powered by Rolls Royce Trent XWB engines. Delivery schedules have not yet been announced.

IAG Firms Up British Airways Dreamliner Options.

IAG today announced that agreement had been made with Boeing to firm up the 18 Boeing 787 Dreamliner options it holds with the aircraft going to British Airways as Boeing 747-400 replacements. Deliveries are scheduled for between 2017 and 2021. It has not been announced whether these aircraft will be 787-8 or 787-9 models.
