British Airways Boeing 747-438 G-BNLE operating BA197 London Heathrow – Houston encountered a lightning strike on departure from London Heathrow this afternoon. The aircraft required examination at Houston resulting in a three hour delay to the return BA196.

British Airways A318 G-EUNB Operates BA3 With No Passengers.

Following an incident involving a Swiss Avro RJ-100 which closed the runway at London City for a period, all passengers booked on BA3 London City – Shannon – New York JFK were transferred to London Heathrow and accommodated on mainline services. When the London City runway did re-open British Airways A318 G-EUNB operated BA3 with no passengers in order to be in New York to operated the heavily loaded return BA4 service.

British Airways A380 G-XLEB operating BA268 Los Angeles – London Heathrow (depart Los Angeles 26th March) encountered a double lightning strike on approach to London Heathrow this afternoon. The aircraft was removed for checks after arrival but was able to operate its next scheduled flight, BA25 London Heathrow – Hong Kong, with a three hour delay.

However the aircraft then developed a thrust reverser problem and was unable to continue to London Heathrow.

British Airways Boeing 777-236 G-ZZZA operating the Doha – Bahrain sector of BA124 Doha – Bahrain – London Heathrow encountered a lightning strike on approach to Bahrain in the early hours of this morning. However when the aircaft was close to the Hungarian border late tonight when it turned back to Heathrow due to a technical issue. Passengers have been accommodated overnight and the flight will now operate tomorrow.

British Airways A380 G-XLEB sustainted bird strike damage, presumably whilst on approach to London Heathrow as BA26 from Hong Kong this morning, and consequently was unable to operate BA25 London Heathrow – Hong Kong this evening. The flight has been delayed overnight and will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER.

British Airways A319 G-EUPA operated BA738 London Heathrow – Geneva this evening, however following the earlier A320 technical issue instead of overnighting at Geneva the aircraft operate the delayed BA733 back to London Heathrow.

Following the technical issue it encountered at Bangalore on 27th February and its subsequent three engined ferry flight back to London Heathrow, British Airways Boeing 747-436 G-BNLN returned to service today operating BA193 London Heathrow – Dallas-Fort Worth.

British Airways A319 G-DBCG operating BA364 London Heathrow – Lyon stopped the climb shortly after departure from London Heathrow this evening due to engine surges and returned to London Heathrow for a safe landing. The flight was subsequently cancelled. As a result tomorrow’s BA365 Lyon – London Heathrow will not operate.

British Airways A380 G-XLEE was delivered Toulouse – Chateauroux as BA9157 this afternoon where it performed training circuits as BA9160 – BA9164. The aircraft then continued Chateauroux – London Heathrow as BA9150. The aircraft is in 14F/97J/55W/303Y configuration and White Union Flag with Crest livery and brings the British Airways A380 fleet up to five aircraft.

British Airways A319 G-DBCB Returns from Maintenance, Returns to Heathrow.

British Airways A319 G-DBCB, which has been under maintenance at London Heathrow since 28th February, returned to service this morning as BA976 London Heathrow – Hanover. However the aircraft encountered a cabin pressure problem when it had just begun its North Sea crossing off Felixstowe and made a rapid descent from 24,000 ft to 10,000 ft, squawked the 7700 emergency code and turned back to Heathrow for a safe landing.

Following its cockpit oxygen pressure issue yesterday, British Airways Boeing 747-436 G-BNLN departed Bahrain in the early hours of this morning as BA9176, continuing its three engined positioning flight Bangalore – Bahrain – London Heathrow.

British Airways B747-400 G-BNLN Returns from Bangalore, Goes Tech at Bahrain.

Following the fuel leak it encountered on 26th February, British Airways Boeing 747-436 G-BNLN departed Bangalore tonight routing Bangalore – Bahrain – London Heathrow as three engined ferry flight BA9176. The aircraft was scheduled to leave 48 hours ago but was delayed awaiting a CAA permit to operate the flight on three engines. The flight was terminated at Bahrain however due to low cockpit oxygen pressure.

British Airways B747-400 G-BNLP BA217 Heathrow Lightning Strike Causes Cancellation.

British Airways Boeing 747-436 G-BNLP operating BA217 London Heathrow – Washington encountered a lightning strike on departure from London. On examination at Washington the aircraft was not cleared for passenger service, therefore BA216 Washington – London Heathrow was cancelled and the aircraft operated back to London Heathrow as cargo flight BA216F.

British Airways B787-8 G-ZBJC Operates Austin Inaugural.

British Airways commenced service on the London Heathrow – Austin route today with Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJC operating the inaugural BA191/BA190 rotation. The aircraft encountered a lightning strike on departure from London Heathrow and the return flight was delayed by around an hour whilst the aircraft was inspected.
