The aircraft has been repainted at Victorville into White Union Flag with Crest livery and will now go through a C-check at Cardiff-Wales before returning to service.
British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO Leaves Las Vegas.
British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO, which has been at Las Vegas since September 8th 2015 when it suffered fire damage due to a failure of the #1 engine, positioned Las Vegas – Victorville this afternoon as BA9172. The aircraft flew a circitous route over Phoenix at 36,000 ft. At Victorville the aircraft will be repainted before returning to Cardiff-Wales for a maintenance check before returning to service.
British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO Las Vegas Repair Confirmed Started.
Repairs are now confirmed to have commenced on British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO following its fire incident at Las Vegas on September 10th 2015. The centre section of the aircraft is now surrounded by a large marquee type tent and the tailfin has been removed. The latest image we can find without the tent is dated January 18th, and the first reported sighting of the tent was on 24th January.

British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO Las Vegas Rejected Take off and Fire.
British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO operating BA2276 Las Vegas – London Gatwick with 159 passengers and 13 crew rejected take off due to a catastrophic failure of the #1 General Electric engine. Passengers were evacuated with 14 reported minor injuries. The #1 engine appears to have encountered an uncontained failure with fire appearing to spread underneath the aircraft. The fire was extinguished after around four minutes. Both the port and starboard fuselage have sustained smoke and/or flame damage with the port side fuselage skin being burned through mainly below but also above the window line just forward of the left wing by Business Class seats 10A and 11A. The left wing fairing is burned away with damage also apparent to the leading edge of the left wing.
The aircraft first flew in January 1999. It last underwent heavy maintenance at Cardiff-Wales from 22nd March – 13th April 2014 and was also under maintenance at London Gatwick from 12th October – 18th October 2014.
