British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO Returns to Gatwick Base.

British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO positioned London Heathrow – London Gatwick as BA9157 early this afternoon after arriving as BA228 from Baltimore-Washington. The aircraft then operated BA2273 London Gatwick – New York JFK. The aircraft had been operating from London Heathrow since 26th September exclusively on the BA229/BA228 London Heathrow – Baltimore-Washington rotation.

British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO BA2169 Orlando Diversion.

British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO operating BA2169 London Gatwick – Fort Lauderdale diverted to Orlando this afternoon due to weather at Fort Lauderdale. The aircraft will overnight at Orlando, therefore BA2168 Fort Lauderdale – London Gatwick was cancelled.

British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO BA2262 Halifax Diversion.

British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO operating BA2262 Kingston – London Gatwick (depart Kingston 27th August) diverted via Halifax, Nova Scotia in the early hours of this morning. The aircraft continued after just over an hour on the ground. The reason for the diversion is not yet clear.

British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO Returns from Singapore Maintenance.

British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO, which has been under maintenance at Singapore since 4th May, positioned Singapore – London Gatwick this afternoon as BA9178. The aircraft has been reconfigured from 40J/24W/219Y to 32J/52W/252Y configuration with ten abreast seating in Economy and with new Panasonic IFE.

British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO Returns to Gatwick Base.

British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO, which has been operating from London Heathrow since 6th February, positioned London Heathrow – London Gatwick as BA9153 this afternoon after arriving as BA226 from Atlanta. The aircraft then returned to service from London Gatwick operating BA2205 London Gatwick – Punta Cana.

British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO Operates from London Heathrow.

British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO, which positioned London Gatwick – London Heathrow yesterday, operated the BA227/BA226 London Heathrow – Atlanta rotation this afternoon. To the best of our knowledge this is the first service this aircraft has ever operated from London Heathrow.

British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO Operates Delayed Kingston Service.

Following yesterday’s diversion of BA2263 London Gatwick – Kingston to Lajes and its subsequent return to London Gatwick, the delayed service was operated last this afternoon as BA9603 by British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO. The aircraft then operated yesterday’s delayed BA2262 Kingston – London Gatwick as BA9602.

British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO Overnight Orlando Delay.

British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO operated today’s scheduled BA2039 London Gatwick – Orlando, however the return BA2038 has been delayed overnight due to the 24 hour delay to yesterday’s BA2039, which means there is no rested crew at Orlando.

British Airways B747-400 G-BNLF Withdrawn.

British Airways Boeing 747-436 G-BNLF was withdrawn from service at London Heathrow this morning after arriving as BA78 from Accra. This aircraft was the last to fly with an “Old First” cabin meaning this cabin is now obsolete and had twice had its service life extended following the B747-400 incident at Johannesburg and the B777-200ER incident at Las Vegas. The aircraft positioned London Heathrow – Cardiff-Wales for component recovery early in the afternoon as BA9170. This reduces the active Boeing 747-400 fleet to 39 aircraft.

British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO Returns from Victorville.

British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO, which has been under maintenance at Victorville since February 26th, positioned Victorville – Cardiff-Wales for further maintenance this evening as BA9179. The aircraft has been repainted at Victorville into White Union Flag with Crest livery and will now go through a C-check at Cardiff-Wales before returning to service.

British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO Leaves Las Vegas.

British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO, which has been at Las Vegas since September 8th 2015 when it suffered fire damage due to a failure of the #1 engine, positioned Las Vegas – Victorville this afternoon as BA9172. The aircraft flew a circitous route over Phoenix at 36,000 ft. At Victorville the aircraft will be repainted before returning to Cardiff-Wales for a maintenance check before returning to service.

British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO Las Vegas Repair Confirmed Started.

Repairs are now confirmed to have commenced on British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO following its fire incident at Las Vegas on September 10th 2015. The centre section of the aircraft is now surrounded by a large marquee type tent and the tailfin has been removed. The latest image we can find without the tent is dated January 18th, and the first reported sighting of the tent was on 24th January.

British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO Las Vegas Rejected Take off and Fire.

British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO operating BA2276 Las Vegas – London Gatwick with 159 passengers and 13 crew rejected take off due to a catastrophic failure of the #1 General Electric engine. Passengers were evacuated with 14 reported minor injuries. The #1 engine appears to have encountered an uncontained failure with fire appearing to spread underneath the aircraft. The fire was extinguished after around four minutes. Both the port and starboard fuselage have sustained smoke and/or flame damage with the port side fuselage skin being burned through mainly below but also above the window line just forward of the left wing by Business Class seats 10A and 11A. The left wing fairing is burned away with damage also apparent to the leading edge of the left wing.

The aircraft first flew in January 1999. It last underwent heavy maintenance at Cardiff-Wales from 22nd March – 13th April 2014 and was also under maintenance at London Gatwick from 12th October – 18th October 2014.

 

British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO Returns from Tobago, Goes Tech Again.

Following the technical issue it encountered on 14th August, British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO departed Tobago in the early hours of this morning operating the delayed BA2156 Tobago – Antigua – London Gatwick of 14th August as BA9607. However the aircraft suffered a further technical issue at Antigua, but was able to continue to London Gatwick later.

B777-200ER G-VIIO Operates Malaga Rotation.

British Airways Boeing 777-263ER G-VIIO operated the BA2716/BA2717 London Gatwick – Malaga rotation today following the cancellation of the earlier BA2714/BA2715 flights.

Gatwick 777-200ER Operations Latest.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO returned to service today and operated yesterday’s BA2039/BA2038 London Gatwick – Orlando rotation. G-VIIP remained out of service and G-VIIK remained on loan from London Heathrow and operated the BA2233/BA2232 London Gatwick – Bermuda rotation. This meant one flight had to be delayed overnight and this was the BA2167/BA2166 London Gatwick – Tampa rotation.

G-VIIK Operates from London Gatwick.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIK positioned London Heathrow – London Gatwick as BA9152 this afternoon in order to operate this evening’s BA2043 London Gatwick – Male. There appears to have been issues with both G-VIIO and G-VIIP with neither operating outbound services yesterday. As a result BA2039 London Gatwick – Orlando has been delayed overnight.

British Airways B777-200ER G-VIIO Delivered.

British Airways Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIO was delivered today. The aircraft is in Chelsea Rose World Images livery and brings the British Airways Boeing 777-200ER fleet up to fifteen aircraft. This aircraft is in a 28J/355Y configuration with 3-4-3 seating in Economy for leisure routes from London Gatwick.
