30th April 2012 - G-DOCU Genoa Damage Issue.

Boeing 737-436 G-DOCU operated BA2688 London Gatwick - Genoa this morning however the return BA2689 was cancelled due to the aircraft being severely damaged by a ground vehicle which opened up a 6 foot gash in the aircraft skin.

30th April 2012 - bmi A321 G-MEDG Returns from Shannon Maintenance.

bmi Airbus A321 G-MEDG positioned Shannon - London Heathrow as BD9571 this evening. The aircraft has been under maintenance at Shannon since 2nd April.

30th April 2012 - Heathrow A380/B787 Hangar Officially Opened.

The first London Heathrow capable of handling the Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner was officially opened at an event for invited guests this morning which featured Boeing 787 Dreamliner N787BX and British Airways “Dove” Airbus A319 G-EUOH on display.

29th April 2012 - G-EUUY BA490 Malaga Diversion.

Airbus A320 G-EUUY operating BA490 London Heathrow - Gibraltar diverted to Malaga today due to weather at Gibraltar. The return BA491 operated Malaga - London Heathrow as was delayed until passengers had transferred by road from Gibraltar.

29th April 2012 - G-EUPZ BA427 London Gatwick Diversion.

Airbus A319 G-EUPZ operating BA427 Amsterdam - London Heathrow diverted via London Gatwick for fuel this morning due to long hold times at London Heathrow.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLJ departed Singapore for London Heathrow this evening as yesterday’s delayed BA16 using callsign BA16X.

28th April 2012 - G-CIVG Hong Kong Technical Issue.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVG arrived into Hong Kong today as BA25 from London Heathrow however the return BA26 has been delayed overnight indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

Following yesterday’s technical issue Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWB departed Larnaca for London Heathrow this evening operating yesterday’s BA663 using callsign BA663X.

Airbus A319 G-EUPF positioned London Heathrow - Prestwick this evening as BA9272. Airbus A321 G-EUXL then positioned Prestwick - London Heathrow as BA9273.

27th April 2012 - G-BNLJ BA16 Singapore Stopover.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLJ operated the Sydney - Singapore leg of BA16 today however the onward service to London Heathrow has been delayed overnight. It is not clear if this is a technical or a crewing issue.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWB operated BA662 London Heathrow - Larnaca today however the return BA663 has been delayed overnight indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIT operating BA2036 Orlando - London Gatwick (depart Orlando 26th April) diverted via Shannon this morning. The diversion appears to have been medical.

Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMD operated yesterday’s delayed BA245 London Heathrow - Buenos Aires this afternoon as BA245X.

26th April 2012 - G-VIIU Transfers to Gatwick Base.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIU positioned London Heathrow - London Gatwick today as BA9173 before taking up service as BA2233 London Gatwick - Bermuda. This transfer is expected to be permanent and just about satisfies BA’s statement from earlier in the year that New First services would commence running from London Gatwick in April.

bmi Airbus A320 G-MIDX positioned London Heathrow - East Midlands this evening as BD9531. This aircraft is in Star Alliance livery and is expected to be repainted into BA Livery and re-configured with a BA style interior. Airbus A319 G-DBCH then positioned East Midlands - London Heathrow as BD9532.

25th April 2012 - G-CIVN Las Vegas Technical Issue.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVN arrived into Las Vegas today as BA275 from London Heathrow however the return BA274 has been delayed overnight indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

25th April 2012 - G-VIIL Returns from Cardiff Maintenance With New First.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIL positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow this afternoon as BA9172. This is the second Boeing 777-200ER to be fitted with a Boeing 777-300ER style interior featuring New First and upgraded World Traveller Plus and World Traveller Cabins.

25th April 2012 - BA175 747-400 Swap.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLK operating BA175 London Heathrow - New York JFK had just pushed back when it returned to stand this morning after a technical fault was discovered. The flight was eventually operated by sister G-CIVR with a delay of just over five hours.

25th April 2012 - BA CityFlyer Announced Aberdeen - London City.

British Airways Cityflyer will commence services on the Aberdeen - London City route on 24th September 2012. Timings are as follows:

22nd April 2012 - G-VIIA Bridgetown Technical Issue.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIA arrived into Bridgetown today as BA2155 from London Gatwick however the return BA2154 has been delayed overnight indicating a technical issue with the aircraft. It appears that consideration was given to diverting BA2156 operated by G-VIIO via Bridgetown to collect passengers but that this idea was abandoned.

22nd April 2012 - G-EUPV BA2664 Habib Bourguiba.

Airbus A319 G-EUPV operating BA2664 London Gatwick - Tunis diverted via Habib Bourguiba this evening.

22nd April 2012 - G-EUXM Returns from Stansted.

Following its diversion on 20th April Airbus A321 G-EUXM positioned London Stansted - London Heathrow today as BA9272.

22nd April 2012 - G-ZAPX Returns to Stansted.

Titan Airways Boeing 757-256 G-ZAPX positioned London Heathrow - London Stansted today as BA9250. The aircraft positioned to Heathrow using a BA callsign on 20th April but has not operated any services in the meantime.










































12th April 2012 - bmi Integration Consultation Begins.

British Airways began consultation with unions today over the integration of bmi British Midland into British Airways.

Of the current 2,700 jobs with bmi 1,500 will remain. These include around 1,000 Heathrow based pilots, cabin crew and engineers and 400 passenger services roles at Heathrow Terminal 1. There will be up to 1,200 redundancies primarily at bmi’s Castle Donington headquarters and at regional airports around the UK.

British Airways and Lufthansa continue to look for buyers for bmi Regional and bmiBaby.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVT operated last night’s delayed BA9 London Heathrow - Bangkok this afternoon as BA9X. G-CIVT was not the originally scheduled aircraft for the flight since it arrived into London Heathrow this morning as BA58 from Cape Town.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIA operated BA2157 London Gatwick - Antigua - Grenada today however the return BA2156 has been delayed overnight indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

11th April 2012 - G-BNWU BA93 Shannon Medical Diversion.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWU operating BA93 London Heathrow - Toronto was well into the Atlantic crossing when it turned back to Shannon due to a medical issue on board. Arrival into Toronto was delayed by just under four hours.

11th April 2012 - Gatwick Job Cuts.

British Airways today announced around 120 redundancies among Gatwick check-in staff. Up to 400 ramp workers have been warned that their jobs are likely to be outsourced. British Airways needs to cut costs at Gatwick before deciding on a replacement strategy for the Boeing 737-400 fleet.

9th April 2012 - G-CIVZ to Singapore Maintenance.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVZ positioned London Heathrow - Singapore this afternoon as BA9177. This is the second Boeing 747-400 to go for maintenance at HAECO in Singapore due to reduced hangar capacity at London Heathrow owing to works to  enable A380 maintenance.

9th April 2012 - A320 G-EUYB Gatwick - Faro Excurston.

Airbus A320 G-EUYB positioned London Heathrow - London Gatwick this morning as BA9253. The aircraft operated the BA2694/BA2695 London Gatwick - Faro rotation then returned London Gatwick - London Heathrow as BA9254.

8th April 2012 - G-VIIB Returns from Bermuda.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIB positioned Bermuda - London Gatwick as a day flight today as BA9152. It appears there are crew issues at Bermuda since today’s outbound BA2233 operated by sister G-VIIF will return as a day flight tomorrow, suggesting the same crew will operate the flight back after minimum rest.

8th April 2012 - G-VIIS Returns to Heathrow Base.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIB operated BA2233 London Gatwick - Bermuda today however the return BA2232 was cancelled. The cancellation was posted before the outbound flight had landed suggesting either a known technical fault with the aircraft or a crewing issue at Bermuda.

7th April 2012 - G-BNWC Returns from Toronto.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWC, which encountered a technical issue at Toronto yesterday, was able to depart for London Heathrow this evening as BA9172.

7th April 2012 - G-BNLU Operates Delayed BA9.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLU operated last nights delayed BA9 London Heathrow - Bangkok service this afternoon as BA9X. This was not the aircraft originally scheduled for the flight since it arrived into London Heathrow this morning as BA12 from Singapore.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWC arrived into Toronto today as BA93 from London Heathrow however the return BA92 has been cancelled indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

6th April 2012 - BA9 London Heathrow - Bangkok Overnight Delay.

BA9 London Heathrow - Bangkok has been delayed overnight due to a lack of serviceable Boeing 747-400s.

6th April 2012 - 747-400 Cardiff Maintenance Swap.

Boeing 747-436 G-BYGD positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales this morning as BA9170. This aircraft was the final Hi-J configured 747-400 in traffic with Old First. Sister G-BNLE later positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9171.

5th April 2012 - G-BNLG Bangkok Technical Issue.

Boeing 747-438 G-BNLG arrived into Bangkok today as BA9 from London Heathrow however the return BA10, scheduled to operate just after midnight tonight, has been delayed for at least 24 hours indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

5th April 2012 - G-EUNA Heads to Gatwick Maintenance.

Airbus A318 G-EUNA positioned London City - London Gatwick as BA9250 this morning. The BA3/BA4 London City - New York JFK rotation did not operate today due to the forthcoming Easter weekend.

4th April 2012 - G-EUOA Departs for Dublin Maintenance.

Airbus A319 G-EUOA positioned London Heathrow - Dublin this evening where it will undergo a C Check. BA’s own facilities at London Heathrow and Glasgow were unable to undertake the work at this time.

4th April 2012 - G-VIIS Transfers to London Gatwick.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIS positioned London Heathrow - London Gatwick this morning as BA9177.

4th April 2012 - Flight Cancellations:

BA377 Toulouse - London Heathrow did not operate today.

3rd April 2012 - G-BNWO BA103 Heathrow Return.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWO operating BA103 London Heathrow - Calgary was just north of Aylesbury at 6,300ft when it turned and made an immediate return to London Heathrow for what must have been an overweight landing due to fumes in the cabin. Replacement Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWH operated the flight with a delay of around six hours.

3rd April 2012 - British Airways codeshares on bmi British Midland Announced.

British Airways today announced that it will commence codeshare on certain bmi British Midland International services from this Friday 5th April. The routes involved are from London Heathrow to and from Addis Ababa, Almaty, Baku, Beirut, Bishkek, Freetown, Khartoum, Tblisi and Yerevan. Avios points and Tier Points will be available to British Airways Executive Club members.

3rd April 2012 - A319 G-EUOH Unveiled in “Dove” Livery.

Video was released today of Airbus A319 G-EUOH in a gold based “Dove” livery for the Olympic Games. The aircraft was removed from service on 24th March for the repaint to take place at London Heathrow.


























































































The aircraft operated a London Heathrow - London Heathrow press flight as BA9250 routing to Dover and making several passes along the coast between Dover and Hastings at around 5,000 ft. The aircraft was then released to traffic and operated BA818 London Heathrow - Copenhagen.


Nine A319s are expected to receive special Olympic livery.

22nd April 2012 - Gatwick 777 Swap.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIF returned to London Gatwick today positioning in from London Heathrow as BA9158. Sister G-VIIG then positioned London Gatwick - London Heathrow as BA9157.

22nd April 2012 - G-BNLW Positions to Sydney.

Following its diversion to Brisbane yesterday Boeing 747-438 G-BNLW operated Brisbane - Sydney early this morning as BA15X before operating yesterday’s delayed BA16 Sydney - Singapore - London Heathrow as BA16X.

As the crew who operated the BA15X flight Brisbane - Sydney will require minimum rest before they can operate another flight today’s BA16 departure to be operated by Boeing 747-436 G-BNLM will be delayed until tomorrow.

21st April 2012 - G-CIVY BA114 Gander Diversion.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVY operating BA114 New York JFK - London Heathrow diverted via Gander this evening. The diversion appears to have been medical.

21st April 2012 - G-EUXK Returns from Prestwick Maintenance.

Airbus A321 G-EUXK positioned Prestwick - London Heathrow this evening as BA9278.

21st April 2012 - G-BNLW BA15 Brisbane Diversion.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLW operating the Singapore - Sydney leg of BA15 London Heathrow - Singapore - Sydney (depart London 19th April) diverted to Brisbane this morning due to fog at Sydney. With numerous other diversions to Brisbane the flight was unable to get away before crew ran out of hours and so the aircraft will overnight at Brisbane meaning no BA16 departure from Sydney today.

20th April 2012 - Former BA 737-200 Crashes in Pakistan.

Today’s Bhoja Air crash in Pakistan in which 127 people lost their lives involved former British Airways Boeing 737-236ADV G-BKYI.

20th April 2012 - G-EUXM BA777 Stansted Diversion.

A storm cell passed over London Heathrow early this afternoon causing long hold times for landing aircraft. During its hold BA777 Stockholm Arlanda - London Heathrow diverted to London Stansted whilst squawking the 7700 Emergency Code. There are suggestions that some instruments were lost possibly due to a lightning strike.

20th April 2012 - G-ZAPX Returns to British Airways.

Titan Airways Boeing 757-256 G-ZAPX positioned London Stansted - London Heathrow this afternoon as BA9257.

Boeing 737-436 G-DOCT overnighted in Edinburgh but was unable to operate BA2931 Edinburgh - London Gatwick this morning. The aircraft later positioned Edinburgh - London Gatwick as BA9279.

20th April 2012 - bmi Purchase Completed.

The purchase of bmi by IAG from Lufthansa was completed today. With no buyers found for bmi Regional and bmiBaby these have become IAG owned airlines however there is no plan to integrate these into British Airways. bmi mainline will become fully integrated however and routes become bookable through ba.com today.

19th April 2012 - OFT Halves BA Fine.

The Office of Fair Trading today announced the halving of BA’s initial £121.5 Million fine for price collusion with Virgin Atlantic over fuel surcharges in the period 2004-2007.

19th April 2012 - G-BWNZ Rome Technical Issue.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWZ encountered a technical fault at Rome Fiumicino this morning prior to operating BA551 to London Heathrow causing the flight to be cancelled. The aircraft was later able to operate to London Heathrow and as it was carrying the cargo of the cancelled flight operated as BA551F.

18th April 2012 - G-ZAPX Charter Ends.

Titan Airways Boeing 757-256 G-ZAPX positioned London Gatwick - London Stansted this evening as BA256P signalling the end of its charter to British Airways.

18th April 2012 - G-VIIF Returns to Heathrow Base.

Boeing 757-256 G-ZAPX operated a daytime Antigua - London Gatwick flight today as BA2156. This was the BA2156 of 16th August.

18th April 2012 - G-CIVX BA12 Go Around and Emergency Landing.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVX operating BA12 Singapore - London Heathrow went around following concerns that the landing gear was not down properly then immediately circled for a landing on 27L around 20 minutes later. 27L was closed for around 40 minutes while the aircraft was attended by engineers and eventually towed onto stand.

Following its diversion to Macau yesterday whilst operating the outbound BA27 Boeing 777-36NER G-STBD today operated yesterday’s delayed BA28 Hong Kong - London Heathrow this afternoon as BA28X.

17th April 2012 - Titan Airways 757 Stays On For Gatwick - Antigua Flight.

Following the non operation of the BA2157/BA2156 London Gatwick - Antigua - San Juan service yesterday Titan Airways Boeing 757-256 remained with British Airways today and operated London Gatwick - Santa Maria - Antigua as BA2157. As a result today’s BA2157 operated by Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIB used callsign BA9607 and will return as BA9608.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIG operated yesterday’s delayed BA2167 London Gatwick - Tampa today as BA9606. G-VIIT still appears to be out of service with a technical issue at Gatwick and as a result today’s BA2157/BA2156 London Gatwick - Antigua - San Juan rotation has been delayed overnight.

16th April 2012 - Virgin Atlantic Emergency Landing Causes Gatwick Chaos.

Virgin Atlantic Airbus A330-300 G-VSXY operating VS27 London Gatwick - Orlando returned to London Gatwick for an emergency landing due to smoke in the cabin early this afternoon. Passengers were evacuated on the runway causing Gatwick to close.

15th April 2012 - Titan G-ZAPX Caribbean BA Mystery Flight.

Titan Airways Boeing 757-256 G-ZAPX positioned London Stansted - Bridgetown Barbados this evening as BA9154. The aircraft will then operate in the early hours of tomorrow morning as BA2152 routing Bridgetown - Antigua - London Gatwick. Although Gatwick 777-236ER G-VIIT appears to be suffering from a technical issue at Gatwick causing an overnight delay to today’s BA2167 Tampa service there does not appear to have been any disruption to Caribbean Island services. Flights back from the Caribbean do appear to be overbooked today and tomorrow.
