British Airways News August 2010.

31st August 2010 - Boeing 777-300 G-STBA enters BA service.

British Airways first Boeing 777-300 entered service today operating BA139 to Mumbai. The four class aircraft features new seats in World Traveller and World Traveller Plus, a new audio/video entertainment system plus BA’s new First cabin.

29th August 2010 - 747 Maintenance Swap.

G-CIVZ positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9170. G-BNLL positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9171.

28th August 2010 - Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

British Airways flew a group of Battle of Britain veterans and members of the Battle of Britain Historical Society on a flight taking in some of the locations of the fiercest Battle of Britain dogfights about South East England and along the South Coast. The A320 was joined in formation by a Spitfire and a Hurricane. We understand the BA aircraft to have been G-EUUZ.

27th August 2010 - Open Skies Boeing 757-200s take up French Registrations.

Open Skies’ two former British Airways Boeing 757-200s have taken up French registrations. G-BPEJ has become F-GPEJ and G-BPEK has become F-GPEK.

25th August 2010 - 777-200 G-VIIG BA182 Boston Diversion.

Boeing 777-236 G-VIIG performing flight BA182 from New York JFK to London Heathrow diverted to Boston after a loud noise was heard emanating from the cargo hold. The aircraft eventually reached London 5 hours 20 minutes late.

24th August 2010 - Boeing 777-200 G-YMMB on UK Domestic Services.

Boeing 777-236 G-YMMB worked the following UK Domestic services today:

BA2940 London Gatwick - Edinburgh.

BA2941 Edinburgh - London Gatwick.

BA2910 London Gatwick - Manchester.

BA2911 Manchester - London Gatwick.

We understand that the Club World cabin was used for high-tier Frequent Flyers.

7th August 2010 - Boeing 747-400 G-BNLM BA269 returns to London Heathrow.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLM operating BA269 from London Heathrow - Los Angeles turned back to Heathrow after fuel system problems were detected northwest of Glasgow. Fuel was dumped over the Irish Sea before a safe landing back in London.

6th August 2010 - Gatwick Boeing 777-200 to Cardiff Maintenance.

3 Class Boeing 777-200 G-VIIR positioned from London Gatwick - Cardiff-Wales as BA9172.

5th August 2010 - Gatwick Boeing 777-200 returns from Cardiff Maintenance.

3 Class Boeing 777-236 G-VIIP positioned from Cardiff-Wales - London Gatwick as BA9173.

5th August 2010 - Comair Franchise Service to Dar Es Salaam announced.

BA franchise carrier Comair launches on the JNB-DAR route on 2nd November 2010 with 5 x weekly service. Timings are:

BA6277 JNB 2130 - DAR 0130+1 X16

BA6278 DAR 0230 - JNB 0500 X27

Flights will be operated by 737-300 aircraft.

4th August 2010 - 777-200 G-VIID Training Flights.

Boeing 777-236 G-VIID operated training flights BA9262 London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales and BA9263 Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow. As normally the flights operated over the Scottish Borders.

2nd August 2010 - Former CityFlyer Avro RJ G-BZAU leaves UK.

The former Cityflyer Avro RJ85 departed Southen today on a ferry flight to Australia where it will operate for Cobham Aviation on mining charters predominantly in Western Australia.

2nd August 2010 - 747 Maintenance Swap.

G-BYGD positioned from London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9170. G-CIVU positioned from Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9171.

20th August 2010 - Boeing 777-300 Delay into Service.

Despite the confirmed arrival of 777-300 G-STBA into Heathrow on 18th August GDS systems indicate that entry into service has been delayed until 3/10/2010 when the aircraft will operate BA139 to Mumbai.

19th August 2010 - Boeing 777-200 G-ZZZA to Cardiff Maintenance.

Boeing 777-236 positioned from London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9170.

19th August 2010 - 777 G-VIIL transfers from London Gatwick to London Heathrow.

4 Class Boeing 777-236 G-VIIL, which has been operating from London Gatwick since July 4th 2010 today returned to London Heathrow as BA9174.

18th August 2010 - 777-200 G-VIIR returns to service at London Gatwick.

3 Class Boeing 777-236 G-VIIR positioned from maintenance at Cardiff-Wales to London Gatwick as BA9173.

18th August 2010 - Inaugural Boeing 777-300 G-STBA moves to London Heathrow.

Boeing 777-336 G-STBA positioned from Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9177.

17th August 2010 - New London City - Chambery Cityflyer Winter Service.

A new seasonal 4 times weekly London City - Chambery route is to operate from 18th December 2010 - March 2011.

Flight numbers are BA8741/8742 and timings are different on each day of operation as follows:

Monday LCY 1050 - CMF 1325 / 1410 - LCY 1445.

Friday LCY 0700 - CMF 0935 / 1020 - LCY 1055.

Saturday LCY 0640 - CMF 0915 / 1000 - LCY 1035.

Sunday LCY 1435 - CMF 1710 / 1835 - LCY 1935.

All flights will be operated by Embraer E190s.
