31st August 2011 - G-YMMF to London Heathrow

Three Class Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMF positioned London Gatwick - London Heathrow as BA9156 this evening and immediately took up service as BA245 to Buenos Aires.


31st August 2011 - G-EUYH Stockholm Technical Problem.

Airbus A320 G-EUYH operated BA782 London Heathrow - Stockholm Arlanda today but the return BA783 was cancelled indicating a technical problem with the aircraft.

31st August 2011 - G-EUPU to new Prestwick Maintenance Facility.

Airbus A319 G-EUPU positioned London Heathrow - Prestwick as BA9270 this evening. This is the first BA Aircraft to visit the new Prestwick maintenance facility.

31st August 2011 - G-BNWV Operates extra JFK.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWV operated London Heathrow - New York JFK as BA9155 carrying cargo and returned as an extra passenger flight BA1182. As a result of this extra longhaul 767 rotation the BA163/BA162 London Heathrow - Tel Aviv rotation was downgraded to European configuration G-BZHC with the usual inadequate £150 compensation offered to Business Class passengers.

31st August 2011 - End of the line for G-BUSJ.

Airbus A320 G-BUSJ will operate BA869 Budapest - London Heathrow this evening and is then scheduled to be withdrawn from BA service. This is the last of the British Caledonian ordered -211 series aircraft. It will remain at Heathrow over the weekend before heading to Gatwick for decomissioning.

31st August 2011 - G-EUNB Back in Service.

A318 G-EUNB positioned London Gatwick - London City as BA9271 and immediately re-entered service as BA3 to Shannon and New York JFK.

30th August 2011 - Extra Newark Flight.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWN positioned London Heathrow - Newark as BA9154 carrying cargo and will return as an extra passenger flight BA1184.

30th August 2011 - Extra JFK Flight.

An extra London Heathrow - New York JFK service BA1179 flown by Boeing 777-236 G-ZZZC (showing BA9601 on radar) operated today as BA1179. This returns tomorow as BA1178.

29th August 2011 - G-BNWH Baltimore-Washington Flights.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWH flew London Heathrow - Baltimore-Washington as BA9152 today and will return overnight as BA9608. This is to cover for G-BNWS which it appears encountered a technical issue at Baltimore-Washington yesterday.

29th August 2011 - G-EUYI back at Heathrow.

Having been operating out of London Gatwick since August 26 Airbus A320 G-EUYI positioned back to London Heathrow tonight as BA9254.

29th August 2011 - BA252 G-BNWM Issue.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWM operated BA253 London Heathrow - Nassau - Grand Cayman on 27th. The return BA252 appears to have departed Grand Cayman but returned there. The aircraft arrived into London Heathrow this morning having operated Grand Cayman - Nassau - London Heathrow as BA9608.

28th August 2011 - G-CIVJ returns from Cardiff Maintenance.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVJ positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9171 this evening. This aircraft is confirmed as fitted with New First.

28th August 2011 - 767 Venice Charters.

Two London Heathrow - Venice return charters were operated by Boeing 767-336ERs today; BA9220/BA9221 was operated by G-BZHB and BA9230/BA9231 was operated by G-BNWZ.

28th August 2011 - G-BNWS Baltimore-Washington Issue.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWS operated BA229 London Heathrow - Baltimore-Washington but the return BA228 was cancelled. It is unclear whether this is weather related or a technical issue with the aircraft.

28th August 2011 - US Hurrricane Cancellations.

The following rotations are cancelled today due to Hurricane Irene:

Airbus A319 G-EUOH, at Brussels after encountering a technical problem on 25th August, positioned back to London Heathrow this morning as BA9271.

26th August 2011 - G-EUYC BA972 Hanover Diversion.

Airbus A320 G-EUYC operating BA972 London Heathrow - Hamburg diverted via Hanover.

26th August 2011 - G-EUYI at London Gatwick.

Airbus A320 G-EUYI positioned London Heathrow - London Gatwick as BA9253 and immediately operated the BA2714/BA2715 London Gatwick - Malaga rotation.

26th August 2011 - 747 Cardiff Maintenance Swap.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVR positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9170. Sister G-CIVA positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9171. We do not have confirmation of the new First status of this aircraft.

26th August 2011 - G-EUOH Brussels Issue.

Airbus A319 G-EUOH operated the BA404 London Heathrow - Brussels yesterday but following its scheduled night stop today’s BA319 Brussels - London Heathrow is cancalled, indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

25th August 2011 - Airbus Maintenance to expand to Prestwick.

British Airways today announced that it has leased the former Polar Air Cargo hangar at Prestwick and that it will be used as a maintenance facility for the narrowbody Airbus fleet. Thirty staff will transfer from the existing maintenance base at Glasgow which will continue to work on both the Boeing 737 and the Airbus fleets. Work at Prestwick will commence next month.

24th August 2011 - Heathrow non operations.

As scheduled the BA840/BA841 London Heathrow - Kiev and BA782/BA783 London Heathrow - Stockholm Arlanda will not operate today.


Additionally the BA253/BA252 London Heathrow - Nassau - Grand Cayman rotation is cancelled.

23rd August 2011 - G-DOCL positions back to Gatwick.

Boeing 737-436 G-DOCL positioned Malaga - London Gatwick as BA9270 this evening.

23rd August 2011 - G-BNWS in Malaga - Gatwick rescue.

Following the technical issue encountered at Malaga yesterday by Boeing 737-436 G-DOCL longhaul Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWS was despatch from London Heathrow - Malaga today as BA9251 then operated yesterday’s BA2717 from Malaga - London Gatwick before positioning back to London Heathrow as BA9252.

9th August 2011 - Milan Cancellation.

The BA580/BA581 London Heathrow - Milan Malpensa rotation is cancelled today and will again be cancelled tomorrow.

9th August 2011 - G-EUPG returns to Heathrow.

Airbus A319 G-EUPG operated the BA2590/BA2591 London Gatwick - Bari and BA2598/BA2599 London Gatwick - Verona rotations before positioning back to London Heathrow as BA9255.







8th August 2011 - G-BNLJ operates BA58 on Three Engines.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLJ operating BA58 Cape Town - London Heathrow experienced an engine surge to the #4 engine just over half an hour into the flight causing the crew to shut down the engine. The flight continued to London at lower altitude and at a slower rate than normal on three engines taking around 40 minutes longer than usual to complete the trip.

8th August 2011 - G-BNWI returns again.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWI positioned empty from an outstation following technical issues for the second time this month today flying as BA9176 from Toronto - London Heathrow.

8th August 2011 - Luxembourg Cancellation.

The BA418/BA419 London Heathrow - Luxembourg rotation was cancelled today.

8th August 2011 - G-EUPA BA904 Frankfurt Hahn Diversion.

BA904 London Heathrow - Frankfurt operated by Airbus A319 G-EUPA diverted to Hahn airport where it was on the ground for approximately an hour before continuing to Frankfurt.

8th August 2011 - Gatwick Cancellations.

The BA8111/BA8112 London Gatwick - Amsterdam, BA2694/BA2695 London Gatwick - Faro and BA2964/BA2965 London Gatwick - Glasgow rotations were cancelled today.

8th August 2011 - London City A318 Maintenance Swap.

Airbus A318 G-EUNA positioned London Gatwick - London City today as BA9173 and took up service as BA1 to Shannon and New York JFK. Sister G-EUNB positioned London City - London Gatwick as BA9274.

8th August 2011 - G-BNLR returns from Mexico.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLR which has been out of service at Mexico City since 1st August positioned back to London Heathrow overnight as BA9177.  

7th August 2011 - A319 G-EUPG to London Gatwick.

A319 G-EUPG positioned London Heathrow - London Gatwick today as BA9253 and took up service immediately operating the BA2540/BA2541 London Gatwick - Rome Fiumicino rotation.

7th August 2011 - 777 Cardiff Maintenance Swap.

4 Class Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIY positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9172. 3 Class sister G-YMMU positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as  BA9173.

7th August 2011 - G-EUUK Dusseldorf Issue.

A320 G-EUUK was unable to operate BA944 Dusseldorf - London Heathrow having overnighted in Germany. The flight was cancelled and the aircraft returned to Heathrow this evening as BA9272.

6th August 2011 - A320 G-EUYM Enters Service.

A320 G-EUYM entered service today operating the BA982/BA983 London Heathrow - Berlin Tegel rotation.

6th August 2011 - Shanghai Surprise.

The BA169/BA168 London Heathrow - Shanghai rotation was cancelled today.

5th August 2011 - Further G-BNWI Issues.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWI, which arrived back into London Heathrow yesterday after diverting to Athens on 31st July with engine vibration issues, re-entered service today as BA93 London Heathrow - Toronto. The aircraft arrived into Toronto on time but the return BA92 was cancelled suggesting further technical issues with the aircraft.

5th August 2011 - A320 G-EUYM arrives.

A320 G-EUYM arrived at London Heathrow this evening on delivery from Toulouse as BA9251.

4th August 2011 - Aberdeen Fog Diversions.

Airbus A320 G-EUYK operating BA1312 London Heathrow - Aberdeen diverted to Edinburgh after circling north of Aberdeen at 13,000 for several minutes. The following BA1314 operated by A319 G-EUPW made exactly the same diversion. Both aircraft flew back to Heathrow from Edinburgh using their allotted Aberdeen - Heathrow flight numbers, BA1313 and BA1315 respectively.

4th August 2011 - G-EUPC returns to London.

Paris CDG technical problem aircraft Airbus A319 G-EUPC returned to London Heathrow today as BA9271.

4th August 2011 - G-BNWI returns to London.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWI positioned Athens - London Heathrow today as BA9176 following its diversion into Athens with engine vibrations whilst operating BA47 London Heathrow - Dar Es Salaam on 30th July.

3rd August 2011 - G-EUPC Paris Technical Issue.

Airbus A319 G-EUPC operated BA322 London Heathrow - Paris CDG but a technical problem meant the aircraft was unable to operate the return BA327.

3rd August 2011 - G-BNLM Returns to London Heathrow.

Miami technical problem aircraft Boeing 747-438 G-BNLM will return to London Heathrow overnight as BA9605.

2nd August 2011 - BA Heathrow Terminal Swaps.

British Airways has announced that from the beginning of the Winter 2011 timetable British Airways operated flights to Madrid and Barcelona will switch from Terminal 3 to Terminal 5. In order to accommodate the switch services to Bucharest, Budapest, Larnaca, Prague and Warsaw will switch from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3. The intention is for Iberia services to move to Terminal 5 at some point in the future. The flights moving out to Terminal 3 were picked based on volume of connecting traffic and aircraft utilisation.

2nd August 2011 - Geneva Cancellation.

The BA752/BA753 London Heathrow - Geneva rotation was cancelled today.

2nd August 2011 - G-EUUA back to London Heathrow.

Airbus A320 G-EUUA positioned London Gatwick to London Heathrow as BA9254 this morning.

1st August 2011 - G-BNLR Mexico Technical Issue.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLR operated BA243 London Heathrow - Mexico City today but the return BA242 was cancelled, indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

1st August 2011 - G-BNLM Miami Technical Issue.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLM operated BA209 London Heathrow - Miami today but the return BA208 was cancelled, indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

1st August 2011 - G-VIIX to Moscow.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIX operated the BA872/BA873 London Heathrow - Moscow Domedodovo rotation today due to a lack of Boeing 767’s following the G-BNWI technical issue in Athens.

1st August 2011 - A320 G-EUUA at Gatwick.

Airbus A320 G-EUUA positioned London Heathrow - London Gatwick this morning as BA9252 and took up service operating the BA8037/BA8038 London Gatwick - Jersey, BA8117/BA8118 London Gatwick - Amsterdam and BA2726/BA2727 London Gatwick - Ibiza rotations.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIP operating BA2157 London Gatwick - Antigua - Punta Cana routed London Gatwick - Bridgetown - Antigua - Punta Cana due to weather.

The BA840/BA841 London Heathrow - Kiev rotation did not operate today and will not operate tomorrow.

21st August 2011 - G-BNLK to Cardiff Maintenance.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLK positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9173.

20th August 2011 - G-EUUE BA795 Copenhagen Diversion.

Airbus A320 G-EUUE operating BA795 Helsinki - London Heathrow diverted via Copenhagen this morning where the aircraft was on the ground for around an hour. It is not clear whether the diversion was technical or medical.

19th August 2011 - G-YMMC Returns from Montreal.

Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMC which had technical problems in Montreal yesterday returned to Heathrow overnight as BA9607.

19th August 2011 - Night of the 319 Swaps.

Airbus A319 G-EUPN positioned London Gatwick - London Heathrow as BA9259.

Airbus A319 G-EUPZ positioned London Gatwick - London Heathrow as BA9251.

19th August 2011 - BA2362 G-DOCO Return to Gatwick.

Boeing 737-436 G-DOCO operating BA2362 London Gatwick - Marseille returned to Gatwick around an hour and twenty minutes after departure due to a technical problem. The flight was eventually operated by sister G-GBTA.

18th August 2011 - G-YMMC BA94 Cancellation.

Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMC arrived into Montreal as BA95 from London Heathrow today but the return BA94 has been cancelled indicating a technical problem with the aircraft.

18th August 2011 - G-VIIY back from Cardiff Maintenance.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIY positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9171 late tonight. This aircraft is already fitted with new First.

18th August 2011 - G-VIIL back at Heathrow.

After operating a single London Gatwick - Bermuda return Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIL positioned London Gatwick - London Heathrow this morning as BA9151 and immediately took up service as BA81 to Accra.

17th August 2011 - G-VIIL at London Gatwick.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIL positioned London Heathrow - London Gatwick this morning as BA9150 and immediately took up service as BA2233 to Bermuda.

17th August 2011 - G-EUPN at London Gatwick.

Airbus A319 G-EUPN positioned London Heathrow - London Gatwick this morning as BA9257 and immediately took up service as BA2694 to Faro.

16th August 2011 - Oslo Cancelled Again.

The BA768/BA769 London Heathrow - Oslo rotation was again cancelled today and will also not operate tomorrow.

16th August 2011 - QANTAS JSA Changes

As part of the QANTAS announcement on its future operations it is clear that the JSA between BA and QANTAS will be amended to only include routes via Singapore. The BA15/BA16 London Heathrow - Singapore - Sydney service is expected to return to Boeing 747-400 operating whilst the BA9/BA10 London Heathrow - Bangkok - Sydney service will terminate in Bangkok. QANTAS will cease Bangkok - London and Hong Kong - London services and codeshare with BA. The two Heathrow slots are expected to be leased to BA. The aircraft freed by the cancellation of the Bangkok - Sydney leg will be used on some days to increase London Heathrow - Hong Kong services from two to three daily. 15th August 2011 - Gatwick A319 Swap.

A319 G-EUPZ positioned London Heathrow - London Gatwick as BA9250. Sister G-EUPS, based at London Gatwick since 24th March, positioned London Gatwick - London Heathrow as BA9251 late tonight.

15th August 2011 - G-CIVJ to Cardiff Maintenance.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVJ positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9172.

15th August 2011 - Oslo Cancellation.

The BA768/BA769 London Heathrow - Oslo rotation is cancelled today.

14th August 2011 - G-EUYH BA490 Malaga Diversion.

BA490 London Heathrow - Gibraltar operated by Airbus A320 G-EUYH again diverted via Malaga today.

13th August 2011 -  Gatwick Cancellations.

BA8036 Jersey - London Gatwick was cancelled after Boeing 737-436 G-DOCA returned to Gatwick on the outbound BA8033 London Gatwick - Jersey. The BA2902/BA2903 London Gatwick - Manchester rotation was also cancelled although this was not related to the G-DOCA return.

12th August 2011 - G-EUYB BA490 Malaga Diversion.

BA490 London Heathrow - Gibraltar operated by Airbus A320 G-EUYB diverted via Malaga today.


12th August 2011 - G-EUUU returns to Heathrow.

Airbus A320 G-EUUU positioned Aberdeen - London Heathrow as BA9275 following yesterday’s technical problem.

11th August 2011 - G-EUUU Aberdeen Issue.

Airbus A320 G-EUUU operated BA1308 London Heathrow - Aberdeen. However the return BA1309 Aberdeen - London Heathrow was cancelled indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

10th August 2011 - G-BYGF BA116 Engine Shut Down.

Boeing 747-436 G-BYGF operating BA116 New York JFK - London Heathrow had engine #1 shut down due to an oil pressure warning when approximately 800 miles west of Ireland. The aircraft descended to 35,000 feet and continued to London where it was vectored in for an immediate landing.

9th August 2011 - G-CIVI BA48 Squawks 7700.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVI operating BA48 Seattle - London Heathrow was squawking the 7700 emergency code from when it arrived off the west coast of Scotland and was vectored direct into Heathrow to land on runway 27R when 27L was the normal landing runway. The nature of the emergency is not clear.
