British Airways A318 G-EUNB operated the London City – Shannon sector of BA1 London City – Shannon – New York JFK this afternoon, however it was unable to operate the onward sector to New York JFK due to a technical issue. The highest status passengers have been allocated seats on the following BA3 service, remaining passengers have been accommodated overnight and will continue on Aer Lingus tomorrow after a plan to divert today’s BA179 London Heathrow – New York via Shannon was abandoned when it became clear that pre-cleared passengers could not enter the US on the same flight as non pre-cleared passengers. As a result tonights BA2 New York JFK – London City has been cancelled.
