British Airways Boeing 747-436 G-CIVX, which had been under maintenance at London Heathrow since 25th January, returned to service this afternoon operating BA295 London Heathrow – Chicago. The aircraft was just to the south of Iceland when it turned back to London Heathrow due to a technical issue. The aircraft landed safely on runway 27 Right with just the main body and nose gear deployed but without the wing gear. The aircraft was stopped on the runway for some time causing the airport to adopt single runway operations. The flight has been rescheduled for this evening.
