British Airways today announced that it will extend the London Heathrow – Freetown service it will take over from bmi to Monrovia in Liberia from 5th November.

The London Heathrow – Freetown service will be operated by bmi A330-200s until 24th October.

From 26th October the flight will switch to British Airways operation and will be operated by Boeing 767-300ERs from Terminal 5 and will operate as a Freetown return on 26th, 29th and 31st October and on 2nd November.

From 5th November the flight will be extended to Monrovia and will operate three times weekly to the following schedule:

BA137 London Heathrow 2230 – 0525+1 Freetown 0615+1 – 0725+1 Monrovia – Mondays,Wednesdays,Saturdays
BA136 Monrovia 0925 – 1035 Freetown 1135 – 1805 London Heathrow – Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays.

The extension is primarily due to British Airways being unhappy with security arrangements at hotels in Freetown. Freetown – Monrovia seats will not be sold.
