31st January 2011 - Cairo re-arrangement.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLZ again operated a daytime BA155/154 London Heathrow - Cairo rotation today. This was considered as yesterday’s scheduled departure. From today BA155 will operate at 1700 from London Heathrow - Athens at 1700. The aircraft will overnight before flying on to Cairo at 0730 and straight back to Heathrow. This avoids the need to refuel in Cairo.

31st January 2011 - 777-300 to Toronto.

Boeing 777-36NER G-STBB operated the BA93/92 London  Heathrow - Toronto rotation today.

31st January 2011 - RJ85 in for CityFlyer.

Atlantic Airways RJ85 OY-RCD operated the BA8465/8466 London City - Copenhagen rotation today.

31st January 2011 - G-BYGB returns to service.

Boeing 747-436 G-BYGB positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9173. This aircraft already has new First fitted.

31st January 2011 - G-VIIX back to Boston.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIX, which diverted to Boston on 29 January was positioning from Boston - London Heathrow today as BA9608 when a haze and smell of fuel was once again detected in the cabin. The aircraft therefore returned to Boston for further checks.

29th January 2011 - G-VIIX BA292 Diversion.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIX operating BA292 from Washington - London Heathrow diverted to Boston after a strong smell of fuel was detected in the cockpit and forward cabins. Passengers were accommodated overnight.

29th January 2011 - G-VIIW back from Newark.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIW positioned Newark - London Heathrow today as BA9171 having operated out as BA187 on 26th January. Although Newark was weather affected the delay in the return of this aircraft suggests a technical issue.

29th January 2011 - Cairo situation.

Today’s BA155 to Cairo was delayed until Sunday 30th and was operated by 747-436 G-BNLZ. This was to avoid the curfew in force in Cairo. However back-up Gatwick aircraft G-STRP positioned empty to Cairo as BA9254 and returned with passengers to Gatwick as BA1154.

28th January 2011 - BA155 cancelled.

In light of the political situation and unrest in Egypt BA155 to Cairo was today cancelled.

27th January 2011 - G-YMMP to Cardiff.

Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMP positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9171.

27th January 2011 - BA178 Cancellation.

Following yesterday’s weather cancellations today’s BA178 New York JFK - London Heathrow is cancelled due to no aircraft arriving in New York to work the service.

26th January 2011 - US Weather Cancellations.

Due to snow storms on the US East Coast the following flights were cancelled or diverted:

26th January 2011 - G-BYGE to Cardiff maintenance.

Boeing 747-436 G-BYGE positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff - Wales as BA9170.











16th January 2011 - G-BUSH to London Gatwick.

Airbus A320 G-BUSH positioned from London Heathrow to London Gatwick today as BA9276.

16th January 2011 - 777 G-ZZZA to Cardiff.

Boeing 777-236 G-ZZZA positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9172.

15th January 2011 - G-CIVH returns from Cardiff Maintenance.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVH positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow today as BA9173. This aircraft already has new First fitted.



15th January 2011 - G-BUSH withdrawn.

Airbus A320 G-BUSH was scheduled for withdrawal today and did not operate. Its last flight in BA service was BA569 Milan Linate - London Heathrow yesterday.

14th January 2011 - BA82 diversion.

BA82 from Abuja to London Heathrow operated by Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIW diverted via London Gatwick today for an unknown reason.

14th January 2011 - Former G-BPEI leaves UK.

Former British Airways Boeing 757-236 G-BPEI departed London Gatwick today as N950FD for FEDEX routing via Bangor, ME to Victorville, CA.

14th January 2011 - A320 G-EUYK delivered.

Airbus A320 G-EUYK was delivered from Toulouse to London Heathrow today. The arrival of this machine is expected to spell the end for fellow A320 G-BUSH.

14th January 2011 777 G-YMML to Cardiff.

Boeing 777-236ER G-YMML positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9172.

9th January 2011 - 747 Cardiff maintenance swap.

Boeing 747-436 G-BYGG positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9172. Sister G-BYGE positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9173. This aircraft is confirmed as having new First fitted.

8th January 2011 - Edinburgh airport closed.

Edinburgh airport was closed up to 1200 due to snow causing the following cancellations:

BA1434 London Heathrow - Edinburgh.

BA1441 Edinburgh - London Heathrow

BA2936 London Gatwick - Edinburgh.

BA2937 Edinburgh - London Gatwick.

6th January 2011 - December 2010 Figures.

Headline figures for December 2010 show:

Passenger traffic fell by 8.3%.

Passenger capacity fell by 7.7%.

Average load factor fell by 0.4% to 76.4%.

Premium Traffic fell by 1.6%.

No Premium Traffic fell by 9.6%.

All figures in comparison to December 2009.

The falls can be primarily attributed to the Heathrow closures and capacity reductions prior to Christmas.

6th January 2011 - BA confirms RR engine order.

British Airways has confirmed its order with Rolls-Royce for Trent 900 engines to power its firm order for 12 Airbus A380s and Trent 1000 engines to power its firm order for 24 Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

5th January 2011 - 777 G-VIIX back to Heathrow.

After covering a single rotation to Bridgetown, Barbados Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIX returned to London Heathrow today taking up service as BA239 to Boston.

4th January 2011 - 777 G-VIIX to London Gatwick.

New First fitted Boeing 777-236 G-VIIX positioned from London Heathrow to London Gatwick today, immediately taking up service as BA2153 to Bridgetown Barbados.

4th January 2011 - 747 Cardiff maintenance swap.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVH positioned London Heathrow to Cardiff-Wales as BA9172. Sister G-BNLN positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9173. This aircraft is confirmed as having New First fitted.

1st January 2011 - Astraeus A320 on 3 month lease.

British Airways have taken Astraeus Airbus A320 G-STRP on wet lease until 31st March 2011 to act as an operational spare for the Boeing 737-400 fleet at London Gatwick. This should allow the remaining Boeing 737-400s to be fitted with Spacesaver seats from the Boeing 757-200 fleet. G-STRP operated several flights for BA during the Spring 2010 Cabin Crew strikes and was operating wet-lease flights for easyJet during December.

25th January 2011 - basource Statement on Hi-J 747 Aircraft Configurations.

Our information on the number of Hi-J Boeing 747s with 185 Economy seats was incorrect. As well as the 4 747 Lite models (G-CIVF/H/I/J) a further 14 Hi-J aircraft also have rows 54 and 55. These are now detailed correctly. We apologise for this error which came from information supplied in good faith from a usually impeccable source.

25th January 2011 - G-YMML & G-BNLP back from Cardiff.

Boeing 777-236 G-YMML positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9171. This aircraft already has new First fitted. Boeing 747-436 G-BNLP also positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9173. G-BNLP has new First fitted.

24th January 2011 - BA & Moscow DME bombing.

The explosion today at Moscow Domedodovo airport occurred after the arrival of BA872 from London Heathrow operated by Boeing 767-336 G-BNWS.This had already departed as BA873 back to London Heathrow before the blast went off. BA874 from London Heathrow - Moscow operated by A320 G-EUUP turned around approximately 100 miles west of Malmo and returned to London.

24th January 2011 - 747 Cardiff maintenance swaps.

Boeing 747-436 G-BYGB positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9172. Sister G-CIVO positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9173. This aircraft is confirmed as having new First fitted.

24th January 2011 - G-BNLK BA195 Bird Strike.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLK operating flight BA195 to Houston returned to Heathrow around 2 hours  20 minutes after take off apparently due to a bird strike. The flight and the returning BA194 have been cancelled.

22nd January 2011 - 747 Cardiff Maintenance Swaps.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLE positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9174. Sister G-BNLR positioned London  Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9172. Sister G-BYGG positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9173. This aircraft is confirmed as having new First fitted.

21st January 2011 - G-STRP operates for BA.

Astraeus A320 G-STRP operated the BA2688/2689 London Gatwick - Genoa rotation today. Despite having acted as Gatwick standby aircraft since January 1st Astraeus A320 G-STRP this was the first time this month that the aircraft has operated for BA.

21st January 2011 - G-ZZZA back from Cardiff.

Boeing 777-236 G-ZZZA positioned from Cardiff-Wales to  London Heathrow as BA9173.

20th January 2011 - G-BNLS BA279 Diversion.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLS operating BA279 London Heathrow - Los Angeles diverted to Goose Bay, Canada. The aircraft arrived into Los Angeles with a delay of 230 minutes. The reason for the diversion in unknown but presumed medical.

20th January 2011 - G-EUYK enters service.

Airbus A320 G-EUYK entered service today operating the  BA434/435 rotation from London Heathrow -Amsterdam.

19th January 2011 - G-BNLO BA247 Diversion.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLO operating BA247 London Heathrow - Sao Paolo - Buenos Aires diverted to Lisbon. The aircraft landed in Lisbon around 3.5 hours after departure from London indicating that it turned back just into the Atlantic crossing. As crew would go out of hours if continuing passengers were accommodated in Lisbon and the aircraft continued on 20th. The diversion was medical. The aircraft operated to Sao Paolo as BA247X and also operated a tag to Buenos Aires as BA247X/BA246X but then returned empty to London as BA9605.

19th January 2011 - Extra DAR flight for Summer.

An extra weekly flight will be operated on the BA47/46 London Heathrow - Dar Es Salaam rotation from 30th May - 26th September. The new flight operates out on Mondays and returns on Tuesdays taking the service to 4 x weekly. All flights are operated by International configuration Boeing 767-300s.
