9th July 2011 - G-CIVS BA284 Denver Diversion.

BA284 San Francisco - London Heathrow operated by Boeing 747-436 G-CIVS diverted to Denver where the aircraft was on the ground for around 3 hours. It is not clear if this was a technical or medical diversion at this stage.

9th July 2011 - G-YMMJ BA8 Cancellation.

BA8 Tokyo Haneda - London Heathrow was cancelled today. The outbound BA7 arrived into Haneda almost an hour late and it may be that the BA8 missed the 0700 deadline for International departures and was not granted an exemption. The aircraft returned to London on 10th July as BA8X.







9th July 2011 - BA57 Delay.

BA57 London Heathrow - Johannesburg was delayed until 1000 on Sunday 10th July and was operated by Boeing 747-436 G-CIVJ as BA57X.

9th July 2011 - Newark Cancellation.

The BA189/BA188 London Heathrow - Newark rotation has been cancelled today.

9th July 2011 - Gatwick Shorthaul Cancellations.

Despite Airbus A319 G-EUPN operating on loan from London Heathrow BA2901 Manchester - London Gatwick is cancelled along with the BA8113/BA8114 London Gatwick - Amsterdam, BA2906/BA2907 London Gatwick - Manchester and BA2584/BA2585 London Gatwick - Venice rotations.


Of the Gatwick Boeing 737-400 fleet G-DOCN has been undergoing maintenance at Glasgow, G-DOCG remained at Edinburgh following yesterday’s technical issue until early afternoon then positioned to London Gatwick as BA9250 and re-entered service as BA8049 to Jersey whilst G-DOCL and G-DOCU are out of service at Gatwick.

9th July 2011 - Newark Cancellation.

The BA189/BA188 London Heathrow - Newark rotation has been cancelled today.

8th July 2011 - G-EUPN to London Gatwick.

Airbus A319 G-EUPN positioned London Heathrow - London Gatwick this evening in order to assist with the aircraft shortage at Gatwick.

8th July 2011 - BA245/BA244 Cancellation.

With Boeing 777-236ERs G-YMMD and G-YMMR both in Buenos Aires following the delay to yesterday’s BA244 only one passenger service will be operated to London Heathrow today. This will be yesterday’s flight operated by G-YMMD as BA244D.


Tonight’s BA245 London Heathrow - Buenos Aires is cancelled and G-YMMR will operate the return portion of that flight as BA244 Buenos Aires - London Heathrow tomorrow.

8th July 2011 - G-BNLU not quite back in service.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLU returned to BA service today positioning Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9171 and was scheduled to take up service immediately to Hong Kong as BA27. Unfortunately the flight was subsequently delayed until 1500 on 9th July due to a problem with the fuel system and sister G-BNLX was substituted. There has been an unfortunately high level of technical problems with aircraft immediately after returning from maintenance at Cardiff-Wales over the past several months.


G-BNLU the second Boeing 747-436 to return to service following being laid up in the desert at Victorville, CA. The aircraft is confirmed as having New First fitted and remains in 14F/52J/36W/235Y configuration.

8th July 2011 - G-CIVA to Cardiff Maintenance.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVA positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales today as BA9174.

8th July 2011 - Titan 757 G-ZAPX leased by BA.

Titan Airways Boeing 757-200 G-ZAPX was leased by BA to operate from London Gatwick today and operated the BA2906/BA2907 and BA2908/BA2909 London Gatwick - Manchester rotations.

8th July 2011 - G-DOCG Edinburgh failure causes Gatwick Cancellations.

Boeing 737-436 G-DOCG operated BA2940 London Gatwick - Edinburgh but experienced technical problems in Edinburgh leading to the cancellation of the return BA2941 Edinburgh - London Gatwick and subsequently the BA8117/BA8118 London Gatwick - Amsterdam rotation and BA2914 London Gatwick - Manchester. This means BA2901 Manchester - London Gatwick will be cancelled tomorrow.

7th July 2011 - G-VIIT BA2167 Miami Diversion.

BA2167 London Gatwick - Tampa operated by Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIT diverted to Miami due to storms in Tampa. The flight was able to continue the same day and arrived in Tampa with a delay of around 4 hours.

7th July 2011 - G-YMMD BA244 issue.

Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMD operated BA245 London Heathrow - Buenos Aires (depart London 6th July) arriving on time. The return BA244 has been delayed by 27 hours indicating a problem with the aircraft.

7th July 2011 - Heathrow cancellations.

Along with the BA432/BA433 London Heathrow - Amsterdam rotation BA360/BA361 London Heathrow - Lyon and BA944/BA945 London Heathrow - Dusseldorf were also cancelled today.

6th July 2011 - G-BUSJ Tech in Milan.

Sole surviving B-Cal A320 G-BUSJ operated BA572 London Heathrow - Milan Malpensa today but then suffered a technical problem in Italy resulting in the cancellation of the return BA573 Milan Malpensa - London Heathrow. The aircraft positioned empty back to London Heathrow on 7th July as BA9277.

4th July 2011 - Heathrow cancellations.

The BA432/BA433 London Heathrow - Amsterdam and BA904/BA905 London Heathrow - Frankfurt rotations were cancelled today. BA432/BA433 is cancelled for the next several days.

4th July 2011 - G-BNLL BA274 Delay.

BA274 Las Vegas - London Heathrow operated by Boeing 747-436 G-BNLL has been delayed until 0540 on 5th July. G-CIVK, delayed from 3rd July departed Las Vegas in the 2045 slot but was positioning empty to Heathrow as BA9609. The outbound G-CIVK crew were scheduled to operate G-BNLL back to the UK and required minimum rest after operating Pheonix - Las Vegas this morning.

4th July 2011 - Amsterdam cancellation.

The BA432/BA433 London Heathrow - Amsterdam rotation was cancelled today.

3rd July 2011 - G-CIVK BA275 Pheonix diversion.

BA275 London Heathrow - Las Vegas operated by Boeing 747-436 G-CIVK diverted to Pheonix due to severe weather in the Las Vegas region. Whilst waiting for the storm to clear it became apparent that the crew would run out of hours and the aircraft therefore night stopped in Pheonix and continued onto Las Vegas on the morning of 4th July. The return BA274 was cancelled and G–CIVK returned empty to London Heathrow as BA9609 overnight on 4th July.

3rd July 2011 - G-VIIR BA2159 Caribbean tour.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIR operating BA2159 London Gatwick - St Lucia - Port of Spain was re-routed to operate London Gatwick - St Lucia - Bridgetown, Barbados - Port of Spain. We understand that the aircraft required a part that was only available in Barbados but was cleared to fly the 108 mile St Lucia - Bridgetown sector. Maintenance at Barbados took around 90 minutes. Three BA777s were on the ground at Bridgetown with G-VIIA and G-VIIB both present on the regular Barbados services.

3rd July 2011 - Amsterdam cancellation.

The BA432/BA433 London Heathrow - Amsterdam rotation was cancelled today.

2nd July 2011 -  G-YMMP to Cardiff maintenance.

Three Class Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMP positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9172.

1st July 2011 - BA57 Delay.

BA57 London Heathrow - Johannesburg was delayed until 2nd June with passengers accommodated overnight. The flight departed on 2nd as BA57X operated by Boeing 747-436 G-BNLX.

1st July 2011 -  747 Cardiff maintenance swap.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVD positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9173. This aircraft already has new First fitted. Sister G-BNLJ positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9172.

1st July 2011 -  Buenos Aires Cancellation.

The BA245/BA244 London Heathrow - Buenos Aires rotation was again cancelled today due to continuing airspace restrictions in South America due to the volcanic ash cloud.

31st July 2011 - G-VIIF BA2232 Halifax Diversion.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIF operating BA2232 Bermuda - London diverted via Halifax, Nova Scotia. Arrival into London Gatwick on 1st August is delayed by approximately six hours.



31st July 2011 - G-BNWI BA47 Athens diversion.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWI operating BA47 London Heathrow - Dar Es Salaam (depart London Heathrow 30th July) was forced to divert to Athens due to engine vibration issues. Sister G-BNWD positioned empty to Athens as BA9159 in order to take passengers on to Dar Es Salaam as BA47D and operate the return BA46 on 1st August as BA46D.

31st July 2011 - G-EUUG Gatwick ops.

Airbus A320 G-EUUG again operated the BA2560/BA2561 London Gatwick - Bologna and BA2716/BA2717 London Gatwick - Malaga rotations before returning to London Heathrow as BA9251.

30th July 2011 - G-EUUG Gatwick ops.

Airbus A320 G-EUUG positioned London Heathrow - London Gatwick yesterday evening as BA9250 and today operated the BA2560/BA2561 London Gatwick - Bologna and BA2716/BA2717 London Gatwick - Malaga rotations.

29th July 2011 - 777 Cardiff Maintenance Swap.

Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMU positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales today as BA9172. Sister G-RAES positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9173. This aircraft is understood not to have been fitted with new First.

29th July 2011 - G-EUNA to Gatwick Maintenance.

Airbus A318 G-EUNA positioned London City - London Gatwick today as BA9270. As a result the BA3/BA4 London City - New York JFK rotation is cancelled until 31st August 2011.

29th July 2011 - G-CIVG BA106 Dubai Delay.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVG operated BA107 London Heathrow - Dubai yesterday but this morning’s BA106 return has been delayed by 24 hours and will operate as BA106X on July 30th.

28th July 2011 - Longhaul 767 to Edinburgh.

The BA1438/BA1443 London Heathrow - Edinburgh rotation was operated by longhaul configuration Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWM today.

27th July 2011 - One Year To Go markings for G-EUNB.

Airbus A318 G-EUNB has had a British Airways logo and “One Year to Go” added to the underside to mark one year until the opening of the 2012 Olympic Games. The flight path out of London City takes the aircraft over the Olympic site.

26th July 2011 - G-EUUN BA490 Madrid Diversion.

BA490 London Heathrow - Gibraltar operated by Airbus A320 G-EUUN diverted via Madrid. The aircraft eventually arrived into Gibraltar with a 2 hour 45 minute delay.

25th July 2011 - BA8049 Returns to Gatwick.

BA8049 London Gatwick - Jersey was unable to land at Jersey and returned to Gatwick 1 hour 50 minutes after take off. As a result BA8034 Jersey - London Gatwick on 26th July is cancelled.

25th July 2011 - G-EUPF BA783 Copenhagen Diversion.

BA783 Stockholm Arlanda - London Heathrow operated by Airbus A319 G-EUPF diverted via Copenhagen this evening.The aircraft was on the ground in Copenhagen for less than an hour before continuing to Heathrow.

24th July 2011 - Winter Euro 767 Routes.

The Winter 2011/2012 European timetables have now been finalised and will see Boeing 767-336 operation on the following routes from London Heathrow:

Amsterdam - BA430/BA431 Monday - Friday.

Athens - BA532/BA633  Monday/Tuesday/Saturday.

Barcelona - BA478/BA479 Daily. BA480/BA481 Monday - Friday.

23rd July 2011 - Vancouver Cancellation.

The BA85/BA84 London Heathrow - Vancouver rotation was cancelled today.

23rd July 2011 - G-VIIA BA2159 Gatwick Return.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIA operating BA2159 London Gatwick - St Lucia - Port of Spain returned to London Gatwick returned to London Gatwick due to smoke emitting from a personal TV screen. The same aircraft was able to depart again after around three hours on the ground.

22nd July 2011 - G-CIVE Returns to Heathrow.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVE arrived back at London Heathrow today as BA9604 positioning empty from Washington where it suffered a technical issue on 19th July.

21st July 2011 - JFK Cancellation.

The BA117/BA176 London Heathrow - New York JFK rotation was cancelled today.

21st July 2011 - G-VIIC BA124 Bahrain issue.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIC operated the Doha - Bahrain portion of BA124 (depart Bahrain 20th July) but was unable to continue the flight on to Heathrow due to a technical problem. The flight eventually departed 25 hours late as BA124X.

20th July 2011 - 747 Cardiff maintenance swap.

Boeing 747-436ER G-BNLZ positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9174. Sister G-BNLI positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9171. G-BNLI has not been fitted with new First. G-BNLI entered service immediately operating BA27 to Hong Kong which was delayed until 0057 on 21st awaiting the arrival of the aircraft.

20th July 2011 - 777 Cardiff maintenance swap.

Boeing 777-236ER G-RAES positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9172. Sister G-VIIX positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9173. G-VIIX already has new First fitted.

20th July 2011 - Heathrow longhaul cancellations.

The BA187/BA186 London Heathrow - Newark and BA199/BA198 London Heathrow - Mumbai rotations were both cancelled today.

20th July 2011 - Sydney 777 Swap.

With Boeing 777-236ERs G-YMML and G-YMMN both arriving in Sydney within 10 minutes of each other this morning (G-YMMN on the delayed BA15 from 17th July and G-YMML on the scheduled BA15 from 18th July) it is G-YMML that has turned around to operate the empty BA16X to London at 0810. G-YMMN will take up G-YMML’s scheduled BA16 departure at 1530.

19th July 2011 - G-CIVE Washington issue.

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVE operated BA217 London Heathrow - Washington today but the return BA216 was cancelled indicating a technical problem with the aircraft.

19th July 2011 - BA778 delayed, BA779 cancelled.

BA778 London Heathrow - Stockholm Arlanda operated by A319 G-EUOA deprted around 5 hours late today causing the cancellation of the return BA779. G-EUOA returned empty to London Heathrow as BA9259.

18th July 2011 - 773 to Riyadh.

The BA263/BA262 London Heathrow - Riyadh rotation was today operated by Boeing 777-300ER G-STBA. This is the second visit of a BA 777-300 to Riyadh. As a result the BA297/BA296 London Heathrow - Chicago rotation was flown by Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIK

18th July 2011 - G-BNWN Ferries Home.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWN which suffered a technical problem in Hyderabad on 15th July positioned back to London Heathrow today as BA9175.

17th July 2011 - G-YMMJ BA15 problems cause delay and substitution.

BA15 London Heathrow - Singapore - Sydney due to depart tonight at 2115 operated by Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMJ appears to have returned to the gate with a technical problem and been cancelled until tomorrow afternoon. The flight was operated on the afternoon of 18th by sister G-YMMN. It arrived into Singapore at around 1300 on 19th and was not able to depart until around 2000 so as not to break the night curfew on arrival in Sydney, where it landed around ten minutes after G-YMML operating the BA15 of 18th July. It appears that all passengers due to depart Sydney on the returning BA16 on 19th July have been accommodated on other services and that BA16 of 19th July is cancelled.

17th July 2011 - G-CIVN BA243 Mexico City delay.

BA243 London Heathrow - Mexico City due to depart yesterday got underway today operating by Boeing 747-436 G-CIVN which arrived into Heathrow this morning as BA58 from Cape Town. The return BA242 was cancelled and G-CIVN positioned back to London as BA9603.

17th July 2011 - Gatwick Turin Diversion.

The BA2578/BA2579 London Gatwick - Turin rotation was cancelled and operated as an extra service BA2580/BA2581 to Milan-Malpensa today due to runway works at Turin. The same arrangement will also operate tomorrow.

16th July 2011 - BA239 goes 767 as Tel Aviv goes Euro.

BA239 London Heathrow - Boston was unusually operated by Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWH today. The extra 767 operation plus G-BNWN being out of service in Hyderabad lead to a shortage of International configuration aircraft leading to European configuration G-BNWA operating the BA163/BA162 London Heathrow - Tel Aviv rotation.

16th July 2011 - G-CIVS Singapore issue

Boeing 747-436 G-CIVS operated BA11 London Heathrow - Singapore yesterday but today’s BA12 return has been postponed for 24 hours indicating a technical problem with the aircraft. The flight will operate as BA12X departing on 17th July.

16th July 2011 - G-BNWN Hyderabad issue.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWN operated BA277 London Heathrow - Hyderabad yesterday but today’s BA276 return has been cancelled suggesting a technical problem with the aircraft.

15th July 2011 - A320 G-EUYM First Flight.

Airbus A320 G-EUYM made its first flight today as F-WWIB and positioned from Toulouse to Finkenwerder for final outfitting.

14th July 2011 - Gatwick 737s Return to Service.

Gatwick based Boeing 737-436s G-DOCL and G-DOCU both returned to service today. This should enable a full shorthaul schedule to be operated from London Gatwick tomorrow.

14th July 2011 - G-DOCU Gatwick Test Flight.

Boeing 737-436 G-DOCU performed a successful London Gatwick - London Gatwick test flight this morning as BA9271 and is expected to be released for service later.

14th July 2011 - 777 on Gatwick Shorthaul.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIP operated the BA2906/BA2907 London Gatwick - Manchester and BA2716/BA2717 London Gatwick - Malaga rotations. The BA2714/BA2716 London Gatwick - Malaga rotation was cancelled with passengers accommodated on the 777 flight.

14th July 2011 - G-BUSK leaves UK.

Former British Airways A320 G-BUSK departed London Gatwick today as BA9251 to Lourdes where the aircraft will be stored.

13th July 2011 - Heathrow Cancellations.

The BA1384/BA1389 London Heathrow - Manchester, BA1475/1476 Glasgow - London Heathrow and BA992/BA993 London Heathrow - Berlin Tegel rotations were all cancelled today.  

13th July 2011 - G-DOCL Gatwick Test Flights.

Boeing 737-436 G-DOCL undertook London Gatwick - London Gatwick test flights today as BA9270 and BA9272.

13th July 2011 - G-VIIG BA217 Glasgow Diversion.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIG operating BA217 London Heathrow - Washington diverted to Glasgow due to a medical issue on board. The flight was around 30 minutes in to the Atlantic crossing when it turned back.

13th July 2011 - Titan 767 G-POWD still at Gatwick.

Titan Airways Boeing 767-300 G-POWD was again leased by BA today to operate the BA2902/BA2903 London Gatwick - Manchester, BA2906/BA2907 London Gatwick - Manchester and BA2716/BA2717 London Gatwick - Malaga rotations. The BA2714/BA2714 London Gatwick - Malaga rotation was cancelled with passengers accommodated on the 265 seat 767 later. G-POWD positioned out from Gatwick to Germnay late in the evening.

12th July 2011 - Titan 767 G-POWD leased by BA.

Titan Airways Boeing 767-300 G-POWD was leased by BA to operate from London Gatwick today and operated the BA2956/BA2957 London Gatwick - Glasgow and BA2716/BA2717 London Gatwick - Malaga rotations.

12th July 2011 - G-EUPN returns to Heathrow.

Airbus A319 G-EUPN operated the BA8111/BA8112 London Gatwick - Amsterdam and BA2600/BA2601 London Gatwick - Pisa rotations before positioning to London Heathrow as BA9265 and immediately operating the BA329/BA324 London Heathrow - Paris CDG rotation.

12th July 2011 - Malaga Cancellation.

The BA2714/BA2715 London Gatwick - Malaga rotation has been cancelled with passengers accommodated on the Titan Airways 767 operated BA2716/BA2717.

11th July 2011 - 747 Cardiff Maintenance Swap.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLI positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9173. Sister G-BNLJ positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9174. G-BNLJ has not been fitted with new First.

11th July 2011 - G-DOCG BA2712 Gatwick return.

BA2712 London Gatwick - Malaga returned to London Gatwick today an hour and fifteen minutes after take-off following technical problems. The flight and the return BA2713 were subsequently cancelled as was the BA2584/BA2585 London Gatwick - Venice rotation. G-DOCG was the aircraft that suffered a technical failure at Edinburgh last Friday causing several flights to be cancelled although it is not know if the two incidents are related.


During the afternoon G-DOCG undertook a successful London Gatwick - London Gatwick test flight as BA9279 before re-entering service as BA8049 London Gatwick - Jersey.

11th July 2011 - Winter Shorthaul Changes.

For the Winter 2011 timetable commencing on 30th October the following changes will be implemented in comparison with the Winter 2010 timetable:

London Heathrow - Barcelona reduces from 8 to 7 rotations daily.

A sixth daily London Heathrow - Brussels rotation operates from 22nd January - 24th February 2012.

London Heathrow - Glasgow increases from 8 to 9 rotations daily.

Effective 11th December 2011 a fifth daily London Heathrow - Hamburg rotation is introduced.

London Heathrow - Stockholm reduces from 6 to 5 daily rotations.

London Heathrow - Stuttgart reduces from 3 to 2 daily rotations.

London Heathrow - Warsaw reduces from 3 to 2 daily rotations.

London Gatwick - Turin reduces from 10 to 9 weekly rotations.

London City - Barcelona increases from 3 to 4 weekly rotations.


All Heathrow services are currently loaded into GDS systems as operated by A320 family aircraft except for the BA872/BA873 London Heathrow - Moscow Domodedovo rotation. Whilst 767 availability may be lessened over the winter by the cabin refurbishment programme clearly 767 operations will not be reduced to one daily rotation as there are not enough A320 family aircraft in service to cover all other 767 flights. We would expect to see equipment changes become apparent on the usual 767 routes in the coming weeks.


The Gatwick BA79** and BA8*** series flight numbers are being retired with Amsterdam, Bordeaux and Jersey services renumbered into the BA2*** series. Other minor flight number changes will also occur on Gatwick services.

10th July 2011 - G-VIIG BA66 Illness Delay.

BA66 Philadelphia - London Heathrow operated by Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIG has been delayed until the morning of 11th July due to the First Officer falling ill.

10th July 2011 - G-BNLU back in service.

Following the false start on Friday Boeing 747-436 G-BNLU successfully re-entered service today operating BA285 to San Francisco.

10th July 2011 - 777 Cardiff Maintenance Swap.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIX positioned London Heathrow - Cardiff-Wales as BA9174. Sister G-YMMP positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9171.

10th July 2011 - BA245/BA244 Delays and Cancellation.

Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMU will be on the ground in Buenos Aires for 24 hours and will operate today’s scheduled BA244 Buenos Aires - London Heathrow tomorrow. Today’s BA245 London Heathrow - Buenos Aires is cancelled.
