30th September 2011 - G-BNLE Returns to Heathrow.

Hong Kong technical issue aircraft Boeing 747-436 G-BNLE departed today for London Heathrow operating yesterday’s BA26 as BA26X.







29th September 2011 - G-BNLE BA26 Delay.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLE arrived into Hong Kong today as BA25 but the return BA26 has been delayed until 30 September indicating a technical issue.

29th September 2011 - Flight Cancellation.

The BA2155/BA2154 London Gatwick - Bridgetown rotation was again cancelled today.

29th September 2011 - G-YMMC Returns to Heathrow.

San Diego technical issue aircraft G-YMMC departed today operating yesterday’s BA272 to London Heathrow as BA9604.

29th September 2011 - G-DOCF Returns to London Gatwick.

Pristina birdstrike victim Boeing 737-436 G-DOCF positioned Pristina - London Gatwick today as BA9275.

28th September 2011 - G-YMMC BA272 Delay.

Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMC arrived into San Diego today as BA273 but the return BA272 has been delayed until 29 September indicating a technical issue.

28th September 2011 - G-CPET Leaves Heathrow.

Negus liveried Boeing 757-236 G-CPET departed London Heathrow for London Gatwick this afternoon as BA9252. The aircraft will undergo preparation for freighter conversion for Fedex.

28th September 2011 - G-VIIF Chelsea Valencia Charter.

Boeing 777-236ER positioned London Gatwick - Valencia as BA9159 and returned as BA9217 in connection with the Valencia .v. Chelsea UEFA Champions League match.

28th September 2011 - G-DOCG Pristina Rescue.

Boeing 737-436 G-DOCG operating BA2882 London Gatwick - Dubrovnik operated via Pristina today. It is unclear whether this was to deliver parts for sister G-DOCF which has been at Pristina since 26 September or to collect stranded passengers.

28th September 2011 - G-EUPZ Geneva Mystery.

Airbus A319 operated BA738 London Heathrow - Geneva yesterday. However this morning’s return BA723 has been cancelled. The aircraft instead returned empty to London Heathrow as BA9274 operating to the times of the cancelled BA723.

27th September 2011 - A319 Prestwick Maintenance Swap.

Airbus A319 G-EUPP positioned London Heathrow - Prestwick this evening as BA9271. Sister G-EUPU positioned Prestwick - London Heathrow as BA9273.

27th September 2011 - G-BNWW BA63 Return to Heathrow.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWW operating BA63 London Heathrow - Entebbe were above Bourges in France at 33,000 ft when crew descended to 20,000ft and turned back to London due to hydraulic problems. Passengers were accommodated overnight and the flight departed on 28 September with sister aircraft G-BNWV.

27th September 2011 - G-YMMB Chelsea Valencia Charter.

Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMB operated London Gatwick - Valencia today as BA9216 in connection with the Valencia .v. Chelsea UEFA Champions League match tomorrow. The aircraft positioned back to London Gatwick as BA9158.

27th September 2011 - G-BNLU Gets Crested and Set For Dreamflight.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLU has been decorated with the “To Fly To Serve” crest on the fuselage and had “Dreamflight 25” titles at the Engineering Base at London Heathrow.  This aircraft will operate the annual Dreamflight charity flight to Orlando for seriously ill children this year. 27th September 2011 - G-EUNB BA2 London Gatwick Diversion.

Airbus A318 G-EUNB operating BA2 New York JFK - London City diverted to London Gatwick this morning due to fog at London City.

27th September 2011 - Flight Cancellations.

The BA199/BA198 London Heathrow - Mumbai, BA8113/BA8114 London Gatwick - Amsterdam and BA1326/BA1327 London Heathrow - Newcastle rotations were cancelled today.

26th September 2011 - G-BYGA Returns to Heathrow.

New York JFK technical issue aircraft Boeing 747-436 G-BYGA positioned JFK - London Heathrow this evening as BA9603.

26th September 2011 - G-BNWI Returns to Heathrow.

Calgary technical issue aircraft Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWI positioned Calgary - London Heathrow this evening as BA9179.

26th September 2011 - G-DOCF Pristina Birdstrike.

Boeing 737-436 G-DOCF arrived into Pristina today as BA2682 from London Gatwick but its scheduled return flight BA2683 has been delayed by 24 hours indicating a technical issue with the aircraft. We understand this to be due to a birdstrike.

25th September 2011 - G-BYGA JFK Technical Issue.

Boeing 747-436 G-BYGA arrived into New York JFK today as BA117 from London Heathrow but its scheduled return flight BA114 has been cancelled indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

25th September 2011 - Moscow 2012 Schedules Released.

The London Heathrow - Moscow Domedodovo schedule to operate with longhaul aircraft from 25 March 2012 is now released and will operate as follows:

BA233 LHR 0855  DME 1530 747-400

BA235 LHR 1105  DME 1805 767-300

BA237 LHR 2130  DME 0430+1 767-300

25th September 2011 - G-EUPB BA846 Amsterdam Diversion.

Airbus A319 G-EUPB operating BA846 London Heathrow - Warsaw was just past Amsterdam approaching Apeldoorn when it diverted back to Amsterdam. After around two hours on the ground the flight continued to Warsaw. It is not yet clear whether the diversion was medical or technical.

25th September 2011 - Gatwick Cancellation.

The BA2155/BA2154 London Gatwick - Bridgetown rotation did not operate again today.

24th September 2011 - G-BNWI Calgary Technical Problem.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWI arrived into Calgary today as BA103 but the return BA102 has been delayed until Monday 26 September indicating a technical problem with the aircraft.

24th September 2011 - G-BNWU Returns to Heathrow.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWU will operate yesterday’s delayed BA228 Baltimore-Washington - London Heathrow today as BA9601.

24th September 2011 - Venice Strike Causes BA578 Re-route.

A strike at Venice airport between 1200-1600 caused the BA578/BA579 rotation operated by Airbus A319 G-EUPD to be re-routed to Verona with passengers transferred by bus to Venice. The three Gatwick services to Venice today all operate outwith the strike times and therefore ran normally.

24th September 2011 - G-EUNA London Sightseeing Tours.

Airbus A318 G-EUNA flew London City - London City circuits this morning as BA9260 and BA9260T.

23rd September 2011 - G-BNWU Baltimore Technical Issue.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWU arrived into Baltimore-Washington today as BA229 but the return BA228 has been delayed 24 hours indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

23rd September 2011 - Man Jailed Over BA288 Incident.

A US Mortgage Consultant was jailed for 3 months today by Isleworth Crown Court for swearing and abusing staff on board BA288 Pheonix - London Heathrow on 20 August when refused more alcohol.

23rd September 2011 - G-YMMB on Euro Duty.

3 Class Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMB operated the BA2712/BA2713 London Gatwick - Malaga rotation today.

23rd September 2011 - IAG to bid for TAP.

It has been reported that IAG has engaged JP Morgan to advise on an offer for the Portuguese airline TAP.

23rd September 2011 - New Heathrow Slots for BA.

IAG today announced the approval of the purchase by BA of six daily London Heathrow slot pairs from bmi British Midland International. The slots will start to be used from late October with both longhaul and shorthaul expansion announced.

22nd September 2011 - Flight Cancellations.

The BA640/BA641 London Heathrow - Athens and BA2155/BA2154 London Gatwick - Bridgetown rotations did not operate today.

The BA2155/BA2154 London Gatwick - Bridgetown is cancelled.

11th September 2011 - G-YMMF back to London Gatwick.

Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMF returned to London Gatwick this morning positioning from London Heathrow as BA9151.

10th September 2011 - G-VIIF to Malaga.

With two Caribbean rotations cancelled today BA took the decision to cancel the BA2714/BA2715 London Gatwick - Malaga rotation and operate the following BA2716/BA2717 with spare 777-236ER G-VIIF combining all passengers on the later flight.

10th September 2011 - Flight Cancellations.

The following rotations are not operating today:

9th September 2011 - G-BZHA Rome Charter.

European configuration Boeing 767-336ER G-BZHA operated a London Heathrow - Rome Fiumicino charter as BA9230.

9th September 2011 - G-VIIP BA2157 San Juan Tag Cancelled.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIP operating BA2157 London Gatwick - Antigua - San Juan arrived into Antigua on time but the onward BA2157/BA2156 rotation to San Juan was cancelled. The curtailed BA2156 Antigua - London Gatwick then departed Antigua three hours early for the return journey.

9th September 2011 - Further European Cancellations.

As well as the BA8034 Jersey - London Gatwick the BA8033/BA8036 London Gatwick - Jersey rotation is also cancelled. Additionally the BA2906/BA2907 London Gatwick - Manchester and BA432/BA433 London Heathrow - Amsterdam rotations did not operate.

8th September 2011 - G-YMMT in San Diego Area Power Issue.

Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMT arrived into San Diego today as BA273 from London Heathrow but the return BA272 has been delayed until tomorrow due to power issues in the San Diego area preventing the screening of outgoing passengers.

8th September 2011 - Gatwick - Jersey Fog Cancellations.

BA8039 London Gatwick - Jersey operated by Boeing 737-436 G-DOCY returned to London Gatwick after being unable to land at Jersey. This caused the return BA8040 to be cancelled. The BA8047/BA048 rotation was cancelled as was the BA8049 London Gatwick - Jersey. This means that the BA8034 Jersey - London Gatwick will be cancelled tomorrow morning.

8th September 2011 - G-YMMF in Heathrow Service.

Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMF entered service from London Heathrow today as BA119 to Bangalore.

8th September 2011 - G-YMMI positions home as BA9602.

Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMI which diverted to Philadelphia yesterday whilst operating BA217 London Heathrow - Washington departed Philadephia today as BA9602 positioning back to Heathrow overnight.

7th September 2011 - G-YMMF Positions to Heathrow.

Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMF positioned London Gatwick - London Heathrow this evening as BA9150.

7th September 2011 - G-BZHC on Domestic Duty.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BZHC operated the BA1454/BA1463 London Heathrow - Edinburgh rotation.

7th September 2011 - G-YMMI BA217 Diversion.

BA217 London Heathrow - Washington operated by Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMI diverted to Philadelphia due to weather. As a result the return BA216 is cancelled.

7th September 2011 - Cancellations.

In addition to the incoming flights from Geneva (BA723) and Aberdeen (BA1301) the BA1472/BA1477 London Heathrow - Glasgow rotation is cancelled. At Gatwick the BA2153/BA2152 London Gatwick - Barbados and BA8117/BA8118 London Gatwick - Amsterdam did not operate.


BA795 Helsinki - London Heathrow was cancelled. This service was scheduled to be operated by A320 G-EUUO which operated the outbound BA798 yesterday. However as this flight arrived into Helsinki almost four hours late the crew minimum rest requirements did not permit operation of BA795 on time. Once the minimum crew rest had been completed all passengers had been accommodated on Finnair or later BA flights and the aircraft returned empty to Heathrow as BA9276.

6th September 2011 - High Winds Cause Cancellations.

High winds in the London area caused severe delays and the cancellation of the following flights:

BA738 London Heathrow - Geneva

BA1318 London Heathrow - Aberdeen.


As a result BA723 Geneva - London Heathrow and BA1301 Aberdeen - London Heathrow will be cancelled tomorrow.


In addition BA8723 Glasgow - London City diverted to London Stansted and the BA8451/BA8452 London City - Amsterdam rotation was cancelled.

6th September 2011 - G-BUSJ leaves Heathrow.

Airbus A320 G-BUSJ positioned London Heathrow - London Gatwick as BA9270. All titles and logos have been removed.

6th September 2011 - Italy Flights Off.

Due to a general strike in Italy the following rotations are cancelled:

5th September 2011 - G-BNLZ back from Cardiff Maintenance.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLZ positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9176 and immediately re-entered service as BA27 to Hong Kong. New First status is not yet clear on this aircraft.

5th September 2011 - G-DOCB Paris Diversion. G-DOCX to Rescue.

Boeing 737-436 G-DOCB operated BA25922 London Gatwick - Cagliari diverted to Paris CDG due to technical problems. It appears that substitute Boeing 737-436 G-DOCX was despatched to Paris as BA9255 in order to continue the BA2592 and operate the return BA2593 Cagliari - London Gatwick.

4th September 2011 - G-EUNA back to London City.

Following its appearance the the BA Open Day at Heathrow Airbus A318 G-EUNA positioned back to London City as BA9251 today.

3rd September 2011 - G-YMMF returns to Gatwick.

Having operated rotations from Heathrow to Buenos Aires and Montreal since positioning in on 31 August Boeing 777-236ER G-YMMF  positioned to London Gatwick as BA9157 this morning and took up service as BA2167 to Tampa.

3rd September 2011 - G-EUNA positions in for Heathrow Open Day.

Airbus A318 G-EUNA positioned London City - London Heathrow as BA9250 in order to take part in the Open Day at the Heathrow Engineering Base.

3rd September 2011 - BA Open Day Display Aircraft.

BA Aircraft on display at the Open Day at the BA Engineering Base are; withdrawn Negus livery Boeing 757-236 G-CPET, withdrawn Concorde G-BOAB, Boeing 777-36NER G-STBC, Boeing 747-436 G-BYGA, Airbus A319 G-EUPB and Airbus A318 G-EUNA. Also present was Airbus A380 F-WWDD which will eventually become A6-VNO for Etihad. All aircraft except G-EUNA will remain for the family day on 4 September.

2nd September 2011 - BA25 Delay.

BA25 London Heathrow - Hong Kong has been delayed until 1500 on 3 September due to technical problems with the aircraft after it had been boarded. The flight eventually operated with replacement Boeing 747-436 G-CIVI as BA25X.

2nd September 2011 - G-BNLK back from Cardiff maintenance.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLK positioned Cardiff-Wales - London Heathrow as BA9174. This aircraft already has new First.

2nd September 2011 - G-BNLY BA84 Keflavik Diversion.

BA84 Vancouver - London Heathrow (depart Vancouver 1st September) operated by Boeing 747-436 G-BNLY diverted via Keflavik. It is thought at this time to be a medical diversion.

1st September 2011 - G-BNWS returns to Heathrow.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWS, out of service at Baltimore-Washington since 28th August positioned back to London Heathrow overnight at BA9175.

1st September 2011 - G-EUYH returns to Heathrow.

Airbus A320 G-EUYH, which suffered a technical problem at Stockholm Arlanda yesterday positioned back to London Heathrow today as BA9273.

1st September 2011 - Club World London City to have I-Pads.

The Club World London City A318 service will switch to pre-loaded I-Pad personal entertainment from Monday 5th September.

1st September 2011 - I-Pads in F on GMIS 777s.

Following a successful trial on board G-VIID, from today First Class passengers on non AVOD 777s (G-ZZZA-C, G-VIIA-H, G-RAES, G-VIIJ-VIIN, G-VIIS) will be given Ipads pre-loaded with a selection of viewing material.

21st September 2011 - To Fly To Serve Campaign.

British Airways today launched a new “To Fly To Serve” advertising campaign complete with an updated version of the crest seen on the Landor livery.






21st September 2011 - 767 Venice Charters.

Two London Heathrow - Venice charters were operated today by European configuration Boeing 767-336ERs. BA9220/BA9221 was operated by G-BNWZ whilst BA9230/BA9231 was operated by G-BNWX.

21st September 2011 - Flight Cancellations.

The BA2153/BA2152 London Gatwick - Bridgetown and BA432/BA433 London Heathrow - Amsterdam rotations are cancelled today.

20th September 2011 - G-EUUK back at Heathrow.

Airbus A320 G-EUUK positioned London Gatwick - London Heathrow today as BA9251 this evening.

20th September 2011 - Flight Cancellations.

The BA2155/BA2154 London Gatwick - Bridgetown rotation and BA77/BA76 London Heathrow - Luanda rotations were cancelled today. The Luanda service was cancelled due to runway works at Luanda.

19th September 2011 - A320 G-EUUK at London Gatwick.

Airbus A320 G-EUUK positioned London Heathrow - London Gatwick this morning as BA9250 and immediately took up service as BA2578 London Gatwick - Turin.

18th September 2011 - G-BNWM Returns to Heathrow & Re-enters Service.

Following yesterday’s Vienna diversion Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWM positioned Vienna - London Heathrow this afternoon as BA9178 and re-entered service this evening as BA133 London Heathrow - Jeddah.

18th September 2011 - Flight Cancellations.

The BA189/BA188 London Heathrow - Newark and BA2155/BA2154 London Gatwick - Bridgetown rotations are cancelled today.

17th September 2011 - G-BNWM BA277 Vienna Diversion.

Boeing 767-336ER G-BWNM operating BA277 London Heathrow - Hyderabad diverted to Vienna today with technical problems requiring one engine to be shut down. Sister aircraft G-BNWY was despatched from London Heathrow to Vienna as BA9259 late in  the evening and brought all passengers back to London using the BA277 flight number.

17th September 2011 - G-DOCA Returns to Gatwick.

Boeing 737-436 G-DOCA positioned Glasgow - London Gatwick today as BA9279 via a test over the Atlantic to the north west of Northern Ireland. This aircraft has been at Glasgow maintenance since 1 September.

17th September 2011 - G-EUPR to Glasgow Maintenance.

Airbus A319 G-EUPR positioned London Gatwick - Glasgow today as BA9278.

17th September 2011 - G-EUUG BA887 Gatwick Diversion.

BA887 Bucharest - London Heathrow operated by Airbus A320 G-EUUG diverted via London Gatwick for fuel due to long hold times caused by weather at London Heathrow.

16th September 2011 - A319s Swap Bases via Amsterdam.

Airbus A319s G-EUPR and G-EUPS swapped bases today via a switch in Amsterdam. G-EUPS operated BA8111 London Gatwick - Amsterdam and then BA429 Amsterdam - London Heathrow. G-EUPR operated BA428 London Heathrow - Amsterdam and then BA8112 Amsterdam - London Gatwick.

16th September 2011 - Gatwick 2012 Summer Longhaul Schedules Finalised:

The Summer 2012 Gatwick longhaul timetable to commence 25 March 2012 has been released. The Boeing 777-236ER fleet will remain at nine aircraft. Montego Bay is dropped from the network with the final flight to operate on 24 March 2012. A second Orlando service is introduced three days per week.

15th September 2011 - Gatwick Longhaul Cancellations.

In addition to the previously notified BA2155/BA2154 London Gatwick - Bridgetown cancellation the BA2233/BA2232 London Gatwick - Bermuda rotation is also cancelled today.

14th September 2011 - G-BNLR returns to London Heathrow.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLR operated the delayed BA84 Vancouver - London Heathrow of 13 September this evening using the callsign BA9604.

13th September 2011 - G-BNLR BA84 Vancouver Technical Issue.

Boeing 747-436 G-BNLR arrived into Vancouver today as BA85 from London Heathrow but the return BA84 has been delayed by 24 hours indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

13th September 2011 - G-VIIF BA2152 Bridgetown Technical Issue.

Boeing 777-236ER G-VIIF operated the BA2153 London Gatwick - Bridgetown - Grenada service today and succesfully flew the first leg of the return BA2152 Grenada - Bridgetown. However the Bridgetown - London Gatwick leg was cancelled indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

13th September 2011 - Gatwick Cancellation.

The BA2155/BA2154 London Gatwick - Bridgetown rotation was again cancelled today and is not scheduled to operate again until Friday 16 September.

12th September 2011 - Moscow Goes Longhaul.

In an announcement timed to coincide with Prime Minister David Cameron’s visit to Russia it was announced today that from April 2012 the London Heathrow - Moscow Domedodovo route will transfer to longhaul operations with Four Class service. Flights are announced though not loaded in GDS systems as moving to 2 x longhaul 767 and 1 x 747 daily. Crewing arrangements have not yet been confirmed. Mixed Fleet crews can operate 747s and their agreements permit them to be scheduled out and back. European crews can operate the longhaul 767 but are not trained on Club World, World Traveller Plus or World Traveller service standards.
