British Airways A380 G-XLEL arrived into Johannesburg this morning as BA57 from London Heathrow (depart London Heathrow 22nd December), however the return BA54 was able to operated with another aircraft which was spare at Johannesburg following an earlier technical issue. British Airways delayed an A380 going for maintenance at Xiamen owing to that issue and now has an extra aircraft to accommodate. As London Heathrow will be full over Christmas aircraft will be temporarily be rotated in and out of parking at Johannesburg.

British Airways A380 G-XLEI operating BA287 London Heathrow – San Francisco operated via Vancouver this afternoon due to aircraft defects. The aircraft initially climbed to 38,000 ft but a technical issue required it to descent to 30,000 ft two hours into the flight and the increased fuel burn required the diversion. However due to the issue the flight was terminated at Vancouver and BA286 San Francisco – London Heathrow was cancelled.

Following the fuel leak it encountered at London Heathrow yesterday evening, British Airways A380 G-XLEG operated yesterday’s delayed BA11 London Heathrow – Singapore this afternoon as BA11D. British Airways A380 G-XLEA Red Arrows Photo Flight.

British Airways A380 G-XLEA operated a Manston – Paris Vatry flight as BA380 this afternoon accompanied by The Red Arrows for publicity photo purposes. The flight spent much time at low altitude by the White Cliffs of Dover. The aircraft later continued Paris Vatry – Chateauroux – Manston.

British Airways A380 Introduction Brought Forward.

British Airways today loaded changes into GDS systems revealing that the first A380 longhaul flight will be brought forward to September 24th when an A380 will operated BA269 London Heathrow – Los Angeles. Introduction on the London Heathrow – Hong Kong route had been brought forward to October 22nd.

British Airways A380 G-XLEA Delivered.

British Airways A380 G-XLEA was delivered Toulouse – London Heathrow this morning as BA380. This is the first A380 delivery for the airline.

British Airways B787-8 and A380 Delivery Schedules.

British Airways today announced that it expects to take delivery of its first two Boeing 787-8s on June 26th and 27th and its first A380 on July 4th. Training for both types will take place at Manston. Whilst no dates have been announced it was indicated that the Boeing 787s will operate some Stockholm services before entering longhaul service and the A380s will operate some Frankfurt services.

British Airways A380 G-XLEC made its first flight from Toulouse this morning wearing test registration F-WWSC. The aircraft positioned Toulouse – Finkenwerder.

British Airways A380 Flights Loaded.

British Airways today loaded its first A380 flights in Global Distribution Systems. Services will be launched on 15th October 2013 on the London Heathrow – Los Angeles route where the aircraft will initially operate the BA269/BA268 rotation on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and the BA283/BA282 rotation on Mondays and Fridays. From 27th October this will change and the aircraft will operate the BA269/BA268 rotation on all days except Tuesdays and Saturdays. Meanwhile from 15th November A380s will take over the BA25/BA26 London Heathrow – Hong Kong service on a daily basis.
