British Airways Boeing 777-336ER G-STBA arrived into Hong Kong this afternoon as BA27 from London Heathrow (depart London Heathrow 23rd July), however the return BA28 has been delayed overnight. It is not clear whether this is due to a technical or a crew issue.

The aircraft will then operate yesterday’s delayed BA216 Washington – London Heathrow in the early hours of tomorrow morning as BA9601 once crew have had minimum rest.

British Airways Boeing 777-36NER G-STBE operated the BA640/BA641 London Heathrow – Athens rotation this morning in order to provide extra capacity following the cancellation of the earlier BA638/BA639 rotation due to an Air Traffic Control strike this morning.

British Airways B777-300ER G-STBL BA39 Heathrow Crew Illness Incident.

British Airways Boeing 777-336ER G-STBL operating BA39 London Heathrow – Beijing had left the stand this afternoon when several ten of the thirteen cabin crew members became unwell, feeling nauseous and with a metallic taste in their mouths. Passengers were reported to be covering their faces due to a strong, noxious smell. The aircraft returned to a remote stand and passengers returned to the terminal.

Following  the diversion of BA677 Istanbul – London Heathrow to Vienna yesterday, British Airways Boeing 777-36NER G-STBB positioned London Heathrow – Vienna as BA9150 this morning in order to continue the diverted flight, routing Vienna – London Heathrow as BA677A.

British Airways B777-300ER G-STBH Operates Los Angeles Rotation via Las Vegas.

British Airways Boeing 777-336ER G-STBH operated BA269 London Heathrow – Los Angeles with a three and a half hour delay in place of the usual A380 this evening. The aircraft then diverted via Las Vegas due to a security alert at Los Angeles, eventually arriving into Los Angeles after midnight. The return BA268 had already been delayed overnight due to a lack of rested B777-300ER crew at Los Angeles. We believe this is the first appearance of a British Airways B777-300ER at Las Vegas.

British Airways B777-300ER G-STBJ Operates Cairo Rotation.

British Airways Boeing 777-336ER G-STBJ operated the BA155/BA154 London Heathrow – Cairo rotation this evening in place of the scheduled Boeing 787-8. The return BA154 will operate late tomorrow morning instead of early tomorrow morning to allow for crew rest as there is no rested B777-300ER crew at Cairo.

British Airways B777-300ER G-STBG Shannon Rescue Mission.

Following the earlier diversion of BA294 Chicago – London Heathrow to Shannon, British Airways Boeing 777-336ER G-STBG positioned London Heathrow – Shannon early this afternoon as BA9158. The aircraft then returned to London Heathrow as BA294F which despite the callsign was carrying passengers.

British Airways B777-300ER G-STBA Operates BA7 Version 2.0.

Following the return of yesterday’s BA7 London Heathrow – Tokyo Haneda to London Heathrow last night, the flight departed again last this morning as BA7X operated by Boeing 777-336ER G-STBA. The aircraft will operate today’s delayed BA8 Tokyo Haneda – London Heathrow tomorrow morning as BA8X.

British Airways B777-300ER G-STBH BA7 Heathrow Return.

British Airways Boeing 777-336ER G-STBH operating BA7 London Heathrow – Tokyo Haneda was delayed entering Russian airspace due to a flight plan issue and made a loop over Joensuu in Finland. The aircraft then entered Russian airspace and flew for two and a half hours when it turned back close to Sidorovsk due, we understand, to the new flight path being too long to reach Tokyo without refuelling and the failure to find a suitable fuel stop within Russia. The initial plan was to refuel at Helsinki but crew would not then have had sufficient hours to reach Tokyo and so the decision was made to return to London Heathrow.

Following the technical issue it encountered yesterday, British Airways Boeing 777-36NER G-STBB departed Mumbai early this morning operating the continuation of yesterday’s diverted Singapore – London Heathrow BA16F freight flight, routing Mumbai – London Heathrow as BA16F.

Following its overnight crew delay, British Airways Boeing 777-336ER G-STBL departed Sydney this morning operating yesterday’s delayed BA16 Sydney – Singapore – London Heathrow as BA16A but operating only as a Sydney – Singapore service.

IAG today announced that the British Airways longhaul fleet will be fitted with the Gogo 2Ku wifi system commencing in 2017. This will encompass 18 Boeing 747-400s and the Boeing 777-200, Boeing 777-200ER, Boeing 777-300ER and A380 fleets.

British Airways Boeing 777-336ER G-STBI operating BA297 London Heathrow – Chicago O’Hare diverted to Chicago Rockford this evening due to weather. The aircraft continued Chicago Rockford – Chicago O’Hare after midnight with this sector appearing to be operated by the scheduled crew of the BA296 Chicago – London Heathrow sector. As this crew did not have sufficient hours to continue to London Heathrow this service has been delayed until tomorrow afternoon.

British Airways B777-300ER G-STBI Continues from Rio de Janeiro.

Following its diversion yesterday, British Airways Boeing 777-336ER G-STBI departed Rio de Janeiro this morning continuing yesterday’s diverted BA241 London Heathrow – Sao Paulo, routing Rio de Janeiro – Sao Paulo as BA241X. The aircraft then operated yesterday’s delayed BA240 Sao Paulo – London Heathrow as BA9604.

British Airways B777-300ER G-STBF Takes Over BA117.

Following the two earlier Boeing 747-400 issues, BA117 London Heathrow – New York JFK was operated this evening by Boeing 777-336ER G-STBF. As a result the return BA172 has been delayed overnight as there is no Boeing 777 crew available at JFK.

British Airways Boeing 777-336ER G-STBL operating BA296 Chicago – London Heathrow (depart Chicago 26th August) encountered a lightning strike on approach to London Heathrow this morning requiring it to be removed from service for inspections.

British Airways B777-300ER G-STBB Operates Cape Town Rotation.

British Airways Boeing 777-36NER G-STBB operated the BA45/BA44 London Heathrow – Cape Town rotation tonight in place of the usual B777-200ER. This was due to the earlier A380 technical issue at London Heathrow which caused a B747-400 to operate the BA55/BA56 London Heathrow – Johannesburg rotation in place of an A380. The return BA56 is overbooked for the B747-400 and so some passengers will be transferred from Johannesburg – Cape Town via Comair tomorrow and then fly Cape Town – London Heathrow aboard G-STBB as BA44.

The Chicago Rockford – Chicago O’Hare sector was operated after midnight by the crew scheduled to operate the return BA296. Subsequently this crew did not have sufficient duty hours to reach London. As a result the return BA296 has been delayed overnight.

British Airways still show yesterday’s BA16 Singapore – London Heathrow sector as cancelled rather then delayed although the flight number indicates that this was a passenger service. The aircraft went straight into maintenance on arrival.

This flight had been scheduled to be operated by Boeing 777-36NER G-STBB, which was switched to operate BA15 London Heathrow – Singapore – Sydney. This was the flight on which G-STBE had been scheduled to return to service.
