British Airways today announced a new London Heathow – New Orleans service to commence on 27th March 2017.  The 4 x weekly Boeing 787-8 service will operate to the following schedule:

British Airways Withdraw London Heathrow – Chengdu Route.

British Airways today removed from sale all seats on the London Heathrow – Chengdu route from mid-January 2017. The final service will operate outbound on 12th January 2017 and returning on 13th January 2017. The route was launched in Sepember 2013 with much fanfare using Boeing 777-200ER equipment, with Boeing 787-8s taking over in May 2014 but has failed to live up to expectations.

British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJD arrived into Cairo in the early hours of this morning as BA155 from London Heathrow (depart London Heathrow 13th August), however the return BA154 has been delayed overnight due to a technical issue.

Following the technical issue it encountered on 17th June, British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJA departed Chennai this morning for London Heathrow as BA36D. Despite the use of the BA36D callsign this appears to be a positioning flight.

British Airways B787-8 G-ZBJB Vienna Diversion.

British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJB operating BA276 Hyderabad – London Heathrow diverted via Vienna this morning. This shows in GDS systems as a planned operation for a cabin crew change but was explained to passengers as a fuel stop due to the aircraft having to re-route to the south of Pakistan due to a closure of Pakistan air space.

British Airways B787-8 G-ZBJF Returns to Service.

Following its technical return to London Heathrow yesterday, British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJF returned to service this afternoon operating today’s scheduled BA277 London Heathrow – Hyderabad, returning tomorrow as BA276 Hyderabad – London Heathrow. This appears to be yesterday’s delayed service.

British Airways B787-8 G-ZBJG Operates Delayed Hyderabad Service.

Following the technical return of yesterday’s BA277 London Heathrow – Hyderabad to London Heathrow, the delayed flight was operated this after by British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJG as BA277D. With two aircraft arriving into Hyderabad today there is only one rested crew available and so the aircraft will overnight at Hyderabad.

British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJF operating BA277 London Heathrow – Hyderabad was close to Trabzon this evening when it turned back to London Heathrow due to a technical issue, arriving into London after midnight. The flight has been rescheduled for tomorrow with the return BA276 cancelled.

British Airways Longhaul Fleet to Get Gogo 2Ku Wifi.

IAG today announced that the British Airways longhaul fleet will be fitted with the Gogo 2Ku wifi system commencing in 2017. This will encompass 18 Boeing 747-400s and the Boeing 777-200, Boeing 777-200ER, Boeing 777-300ER and A380 fleets.

British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJG operating BA69 London Heathrow – Philadelphia was around two hours into its journey when it turned back to Dublin due to a medical emergency on board. Crew did not then have sufficient hours to reach Philadelphia and the aircraft therefore routed Dublin – London Heathrow where passengers were accommodated. Following its technical return to London Heathrow on 10th November, British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJB undertook a London Heathrow – London Heathrow test flight this afternoon as BA9174, routing close to Harwich at 15,000 ft and briefly over the North Sea before returning to London Heathrow.

British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJE operating BA36 Chennai – London Heathrow landed with the RAM Air Turbine deployed this morning. The aircraft did not squawk any emergency code and did two laps in the Lambourne stack before landing and taxiing to the terminal under its own power.

British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJE operating BA103 London Heathrow – Calgary was just to the north of Nottingham when crew needed to shut down an engine. The aircraft squawked the 7700 General Emergency code and return to London Heathrow for a safe landing after two circuits of the Bovingdon hold. The flight has been delayed overnight and passengers accommodated.

British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJE operating BA88 Chengdu – London Heathrow returned to Chengdu around 90 minutes after take off this afternoon due to a technical issue. After around three hours on the ground the aircaft was able to depart again for London.

British Airways today announced that the BA780/BA781 London Heathrow – Stockholm Arlanda rotation will switch from Boeing 767-300ER to Boeing 787-8 operation for the period 15th July – 10th August 2014. The World Traveller Plus cabin will be sold as Economy with seats allocated to high tier frequent flyers. Boeing 787-8’s were used on this rotation last Summer for crew familiarisation purposes.

British Airways B787-8 BA277 London Heathrow Medical Emergency Return.

Following the earlier Boeing 787-8 technical issue at London Heathrow, British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJB was switched from operating BA187 London Heathrow – Newark to operating BA277 London Heathrow – Hyderabad. However shortly after take off there was a medical emergency on board requiring the aircraft to return to London Heathrow. Once cleared crew did not have sufficient hours to operate the flight, and with no standby crew available the flight has been delayed overnight and passengers accommodated.

British Airways B787-8 G-ZBJC Operates Austin Inaugural.

British Airways commenced service on the London Heathrow – Austin route today with Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJC operating the inaugural BA191/BA190 rotation. The aircraft encountered a lightning strike on departure from London Heathrow and the return flight was delayed by around an hour whilst the aircraft was inspected.

Following the technical issue it encountered yesterday, British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJB was preparing to depart Newark tonight as yesterday’s delayed BA186 Newark – London Heathrow, when it returned to the stand with a hydraulic issue. The flight was subsequently cancelled.

Following the hydraulic issue it encountered yesterday, British Airways B787-8 G-ZBJC was unable to depart as scheduled as yesterday’s BA98 Toronto – London Heathrow this evening and will remain at Toronto overnight.

British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJC operating BA99 London Heathrow – Toronto suffered a total loss of the centre hydraulic system en route but continued to Toronto for a safe landing. The return BA98 has been delayed overnight.

British Airways B787-8 G-ZBJD, which has been out of service at London Heathrow since 22nd October, returned to traffic today operating BA189 London Heathrow – Newark. The airport was reported to have been struck by a baggage truck at Toronto on 21st October, and we have also received reports that it was further damaged at London Heathrow during the high winds on 28th October.

British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJD operated BA97 London Heathrow – Toronto yesterday, however the return BA96 was delayed until the early hours of this morning. We understand this was due to the aircraft needing to be inspected after being struck by a ground vehicle. The aircraft was immediately taken out of service on arrival at London Heathrow and moved to the maintenance facility.

British Airways B787-8 G-ZBJA Test Flight.

British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJA operated a London Heathrow – London Heathrow flight as BA9174 this afternoon routing to the north of Scotland and back.

British Airways B787-8 G-ZBJB Delivered.

British Airways Boeing 787-8 G-ZBJB began its delivery flight from Paine Field – London Heathrow tonight as BA787. The aircraft had been scheduled to depart Paine Field yesterday but was delayed due to a technical issue. This is the first B787-8 delivered to the airline.

British Airways B787-8 and A380 Delivery Schedules.

British Airways today announced that it expects to take delivery of its first two Boeing 787-8s on June 26th and 27th and its first A380 on July 4th. Training for both types will take place at Manston. Whilst no dates have been announced it was indicated that the Boeing 787s will operate some Stockholm services before entering longhaul service and the A380s will operate some Frankfurt services.

IAG Firms Up British Airways Dreamliner Options.

IAG today announced that agreement had been made with Boeing to firm up the 18 Boeing 787 Dreamliner options it holds with the aircraft going to British Airways as Boeing 747-400 replacements. Deliveries are scheduled for between 2017 and 2021. It has not been announced whether these aircraft will be 787-8 or 787-9 models.
